Are there any pros/cons to getting a contracting firm that also does the architectural design versus hiring an architect, and either hiring an unrelated contractor, or have the architect recommend a contractor? I still have a few months before I'm ready to talk to an architect, but I'm trying to get as much info beforehand as possible.

I want to add an addition (two stories and basement), and at a later date(s), move and remodel the kitchen, build a garage, and convert existing kitchen to bathroom.
