Sciatica-type pain

I have been walking around the house a lot today doing laundry, cleaning, packing my hospital bag, etc in preparation for the baby. This afternoon while walking when my left foot hit the floor I had a terrible siatica-type pain that shot down my lower back into my leg. It almost made me fall to the floor. Ever since then, I get the same pain sporadically when I am walking. Always on my left side. Could this be sciatica? Or, the baby pushing on something?

Anyone else feel this late in pregnancy? I am almost 37 weeks.

i am almost 40 weeks and just started having the same thing. i def think it's your sciatica. i took tylenol and tried to lay on the floor and stretch it out a bit. my dh also rubbed that area and it does help. i really feel for people who have this the entire time.

Unfortunately, I've had non-stop sciatica since I was 8 weeks...

What helps me the most is to sleep with a pillow between my legs. That helps to keep your spine aligned while you sleep, and that helps a LOT.

Other than that, I find that a nice long walk, or better yet, a swim, works wonders.

I have had lower back pain and shooting nerve like pains down into my butt and back for a few days now. I have heard it's all very normal. It really hurts though.

I had sciatica pain for the last few weeks of my pregnancy.

The day before I went into labor it was so bad I was walking with a limp and couldn't drive.
