repost from pets: FLEAS & house cleaning!!!
When your pets have fleas, what do you do to keep your house free of fleas?
I vacuum everyday, spray his beds with flea killing spray, and wash his beds often.
Ray doesn't want to use the flea powders or sprays on our rugs because they are pretty new.
Any other ideas?

When my dh had fleas in his old house, he had to set off 2-3 bombs and leave the house for a few hours. It was really bad...they were jumping from the carpeting to his bed...
They worked though...flea free!! (try saying that 3 times fast.. )

Well, so far I have only found a few fleas on Gizmo, and I gave him a flea bath already. So I am hoping it doesn't go that far to bombing the house... anything I can do to stop them from multiplying?????

awww...poor Gizmo!
When we first got Gunnar, he had fleas and they got pretty bad. My parents eventually called Terminex and had them come to spray monthly and we never had fleas again.

my dog got fleas at petco when he was there getting groomed. It was a week before I was having 50 people over for a party so I bombed the whole house, washed all linens with hot water, sprayed all the places he lays & used frontline on him & got a flea collar. Then i bombed again a week later just to be sure. I was so grossed out, I never had anything like that & my parents had a full dog breeding kennel when I was growing up.

You can put Gizmo on a flea treatment, we use Revolution and as the fleas jump on him, they will die and you basically use Gizmo and a travelling extirminator.

You must use either Frontline, Advantage or Revolution on your pet (flea collars do NOT work and flea baths only kill what's on him that second -- fleas will jump back on him after he is dried). For your house, use a fogger and that will kill the fleas that live in your carpeting, furniture and bedding...
