Repost Anyone stay at the Excelsior or Lucerne Hotels in NYC?

Suggestions?
Looking to take DH into the city for his bday in March. He LOVES the Museum of Natural History and we were looking to spend the day at the Museum then have dinner and stay in the city for the night!!

My aunt and uncle usually stay at the Lucerne when they are in town. They are very particular- so I take that as a good sign!

We are going to stay in NYC this weekend for my DH's 35th Birthday.. We are staying at the Park Central on 57th.
We are seeing A Chorus Line on Fri and an opera ( forgot which one) at the Met on Saturday so we want to stay in between both..
I will let you know how it is next week if you want...
I am so excited since I haven't been a city girl for 5 years already.....

I've stayed at the Excelsior and loved it - it's a great hotel/location (especially for what you're interested in doing). The rooms are decent in size, very clean, and we had a great view.
Haven't stayed at the Lucerne.
