My daughter had a Prevnar shot at 1pm today. At 2:30pm, DH noticed a big, red, swollen area on the side of her head. It was the left "corner" of her forehead, and it was pretty darn big and red. He is not much of a worrier, but he was pretty freaked out. We took her to PM Pediatrics. By the time a doctor looked at her, at about 3:30 or 4, it was gone. She developed a few blotchy, slighty raised, red areas on the other side of her forehead. The doctor saw those and didn't think they were allergic reaction hives, but she didn't know for sure. DD did not hit her head. I know this b/c she did not leave her car seat from the time she got the shot to the time we saw the swelling.

Could this have been a reaction to the shot? Has anyone ever had this happen before? When will our DCs stop giving us heart attacks??? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
