Recommend Your Pediatric Gastro Doctor PLEASE!!!!
Please recommend your pediatric gastroenterologist! My twins have horrible reflux and I really need some kind of intervention here!

I just went to one yesterday as an emergency patient. I saw Dr. Gold with Good Sam...but other people I spoke to said his partner Dr. Kessler is better.

We saw Dr. Gold for a year. He was great, and always available to answer questions, etc. over the phone.

Dr Weinstein at Schneiders Childrens Hospital at LIJ. DS has been going to her since he was about 4 weeks old. She is awesome.

I also went to Dr. Gold, very nice took the time to explain everything. Turned out my ds didnt have reflux at all.

I went to the Good Sam Pediatric clinic. They were WOOOOONDERFUL!!
Not alarmist at all. Gave great advice and diagnosis and even took a follow up phone call from me about a month later (quite a long phone call) without just saying..come in.. like so many doctors do. (even where it really is just a phone convo thing.. kwim?)
Great.. great.. doctor.

DR. Gold at Good Sam!!! He's great. Was recommended to me by 2 people at my job and to my husband by someone at his job as well!!! Very nice and explains everything. Very thorough !!!

Dr. Levine was recommended by my PED but wasn't available until Dec. DS can't wait that long...and neither can Mommy...

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Gold!!!
With DD#1, I thought she had bad reflux, Ped put her on Pepcid and told me to switch her from breastmilk to Alimentum. I took her to Dr. Gold and he said she is fine, no reflux any worse than any normal baby, no meds and back to breastmilk or any other formula I wanted. I really liked that he opted to not treat and let her be a regular baby.
With DD#2, we had severe problems, she spit up so much that she wasn't gaining weight, and was dropping off the growth chart. He was seeing me every couple of days, as emergency appointments, and worked with me to find the solution for her, short of being 3 days away from needing a feeding tube. And after she was doing well for 3 months so we hadn't seen him, when she made a substantial gain he was so genuinely happy that he went out to get his Nurse Practitioner to see my baby and how well she was doing! And then a few months later, I had to take her to Good Sam for an MRI and he saw her name on the anesthesia schedule and remembered to ask me what was going on the next time I saw him in the office (about a month later).
Love, love, love him!!! And very gentle with the babies!!

FYI - I called everyday in the AM to see if he had any cancellations and we got in for this Monday so you can try that.
I heard all the doctors are wonderful though.

with dd, we saw dr. weinstein at ns/lij cohen's childrens hospital (formly schneiders) and while she is a great doctor, she had no bedside manner. this time around with ds, we saw dr. markowitz there and we liked him initially but then after some setbacks, he never returned our phone calls, even after we took ds to the hospital for an emergency. we are looking for a new gi doc now.

I HATED Dr. Moy. My DS has a severe milk & soy allergy and she told me it was okay to give him my frozen breast milk from when I was eating soy. So I think she's a complete idiot!!!

We saw Dr Guaverra at Good Sam and liked him but I disagreed with his advice to stop breastfeeding and put DS on a hypoallergenic formula. He told me that going on a dairy/soy free diet would not work which is very incorrect. I switched to Dr Weinstein who was more supportive of BF. I am seeing her again now that DS is not gaining weight and she's been very thorough and nice.

I agree with Dr. Levine!!! He helped my daughter soo much. We've seen a lot of gi docs. and he by far knows his stuff!
