sophie the giraffe scare - update with info on being pulled from shelves
so i finally broke down and bought mia a sophie because she was teething. naturally, she loved it, which made me feel better about spending $20 on it 
but just about 15 mins ago, i heard her spitting up and noticed sophie's leg was caught in her throat. mia was choking, all the color gone from her already pale white face. i pulled sophie out and mia threw up everywhere. she is fine now, i have been making her laugh and everything but i'm nervous to give it back to her :(
needless to say, i am off to sign up for an infant cpr class to refresh my memory (i've been certified before).
ETA: i can't stop thinking about what would have happened if i wasn't in the room. if i had been making dinner in the other room, like i was 10mins before. i wrote Vulli an email last night, and i am waiting for a response. it is now my mission to let everyone know about this hazard.

i did a quick search and learned that sophie was pulled from the shelves of TOYS R US in canada for the exact reason. now i'm FUMING wondering why it wasn't a COMPANY recall.

yeah i'm definitely nervous about giving it back to her. the legs are too long. i can see this happening to any baby.

If you read some reviews on Sophie this HAS HAPPENED TO PARENTS IN THE PAST...the first time I gave her to Lara I was petrified now that she is a little older I am less anxious about her chewing on her.

i was sitting right next to her! it worries me, what would have happened if i ran to go to the bathroom or something, where i wasn't next to her?

Yikes! So glad Mia is ok. We have recently misplaced Sophie in our house but I guess that's a good thing. I'm nervous about giving it to Liv now!

OMG, I can't believe that! I'm so glad she's okay!!!
ETA: I have CPR on dvd if you want to borrow it as a refresher right now. I took the class when I was PG so it's up to date.

you know what's sad shana? is that you're 100% correct. i was so scared, as was she. i keep checking on her to make sure there isn't anything that causes any problems while she sleeps.

OMG how scary!!!!!!!!!! Thank God you noticed right away and were right there. I had thought about something like this, but I thought it couldn't/wouldn't happen. Didn't know it's a common complaint!
