bathtub: glass doors or curtain?

opinions please!

we are redoing our bathroom, and its the bathroom that im going to be using for our little guy (hopefully more kids down the line)

i 100% dont want a shower door-- is that wrong? do most people do glass doors for a bathtub? i feel like its so much easier to bathe little munchkins if i had a shower curtain instead of a door

what do i do?

Re: bathtub: glass doors or curtain?

We removed our glass shower doors and I'm so much happier with a shower curtain. We took them down mostly because it was a pain to clean them and the tub because they got in the way. And now that we have a baby coming soon I'm especially glad to be rid of them. I can't imagine trying to give her a bath with those doors and the metal tracks in the way.

Nothing wrong with skipping the glass door! I think shower curtains are popular also... and it sounds like it would make things much easier.

I suggest to use glass doors rather then shower containers. In glass doors you will get best quality rather then shower containers. According to me there are so many glasses doors will be available in market. You just go through the all information and choose them to fix it.

Re: bathtub: glass doors or curtain?

No glass.

I had a glass door shower with tub in our old house and just taking a bath myself felt like I was incased. Very uncomfortable. I couldn't imagine having to bath kids with that bulky door and frame in the way.

Now, our downstairs bathroom has a tub and curtain and upstairs is a big shower stall with glass - it works out great.

For a bathroom where you are going to be bathing kids, I like a curtain. I prefer a door for myself, but it's such a pain to try to get around it!

Re: bathtub: glass doors or curtain?

Curtains are so much easier when bathing kids. I had to give my dd a bath at my moms and she has glass doors and it was such a pain in the butt

Ugh, I keep asking DH to take down (or get someone else to!) the glass shower doors in DD's bathroom. Bathing her is a PITA and DANGEROUS!!! She's 14 months and in this "I have to stand up in the bath" phase, which scares the cr@p out of me. I have nightmares of her slipping and crashing into the glass. I want those doors gone! I would really recommend a curtain for a bath children will be using.

I like having a shower curtain in the bath with the tub. Not only is it easier to bathe my son, but I like the look of it. I can change up the look of the bathroom with the seasons (or on a whim!), and I don't have to stress over keeping the glass doors clean.

Re: bathtub: glass doors or curtain?

I agree with everyone else, curtain! So much easier to bathe kids, and if the curtain gets really dirty or you don't like it anymore it's cheap and easy to replace. Plus keeping glass doors clean is a nightmare, not just the doors themselves, but the darn track!

I still don't want a door but i cant help but think: that's one less spot to hang towels and washcloths (inside the tub)

It's not a big bathroom....

Arrrggghhhhh

Re: bathtub: glass doors or curtain?

We redid our bathroom last year and I didn't want a glass door. Too much of a pain to keep clean, and when I have kids it'll be a pain to give baths.

The curtain doesn't bother me, and I like the way it looks (easy to change the look). I use a fabric liner, not the old liners people used to use, and throw it in the wash every week to keep it fresh.

Also, I don't hang towels in my bathroom, only a hand towel by the sink, so that wasn't an issue for me.

Re: bathtub: glass doors or curtain?

DH and I are NOT fans of glass doors (the sliding kind).

SO between a slidign glass door OR a curtain, I'd choose curtain.

Re: bathtub: glass doors or curtain?

When we renovated our teeeeny tiiiiiiny bathroom, we installed glass doors so the room looked bigger since the tub took up most of the room. That's the only advantage...they are a pain to keep clean / streak free and with shower curtains you just need to change the liner every so often. The bathing kids is a big factor too.

Can you tell me what is the reason behind that You hate glass doors. I can say it is amazing idea to fix glass shower doors. Curtains doesn't look good and also many people are not prefer to go for curtain option.

I would go with the curtain. We had doors and took them off. They leak and they're hard to clean. The better doors are also very expensive.
