Question about kit kat cake for those who made it......

Question about kit kat cake for those who made it......
Has anyone done it with yellow cake? I'm just worried that it should be firm enough. Also, if I use 8 inch pans and stack the two cakes, will that be enough for 9 people?  I feel like I should have gotten the 9 inch...
I am SO not a baker so this is all new to me 
ETA: I know it's the same amount of cake either way... I just feel like maybe a 9 inch would look bigger, it would just be slightly lower

it should be plenty for 9 people! once you add the kit kats to the outside it makes it smore filling per slice, kwim.
i used yellow cake and had no problem

I used yellow cake with no problem. An 8inch pan should be fine- with all the candy on it the cake is a pretty big dessert! Everyone ends up taking smaller slices.

You're fine with a yellow cake, and an 8 inch cake will be perfect for that amount of people!
It's a very easy cake to make!

Thank you everyone!!!
I ended up going with the 9 inch because it was either a 9 inch REAL pan or 8 inch aluminum disposable ones.. so I decided to go with the real thing so I have it for the future. My dh says he would like me to start baking more
I'll take pics when I'm done!!
I'm making the cake part tonight and the rest tomorrow!
