Pooping on the potty - help me not screw up my kid pleas! - UPDATE! He pooped on the POTTY! ALLELUHIA! ;)
This process makes me want to scream.
I don't want to pressure him and make him have issues but I do want him to know it's ok to poop on the potty.
I am at a loss on how the heck to approach this.
I know he has to go. I put him on and he won't poop (he will let out some farts though)
The thing that GROSSES me out is that he is now touching his asss when he's on the toilet- he must feel something so he's exploring. It is freakin' grossing me out. I keep telling him to stop - but then again, and I giving him more issues with pooping?
He is potty trained completely for peeing. The pooping will be the thing to drive me to hit the bottle.

Ryan touches his bum hole too. We just keep explaining how nasty it is and then boil his hands.
Ryan's pee trained down too but poop only when Mommy's home
He's been trained for 3 wks now. He holds poop for every other day. He has done it in the potty with me about 6 times, about 3 underpant accidents with DH and once at daycare.
I just watch him like a hawk when he's due a doo and get him on there. He's not asking to go yet, but he'll cooperate when he's tooting up a storm in a corner and I tell him it's time to go

Elizabeth has only pooped on the potty a few times, but just being out in public grosses me out and the fact that she has to check out every single bathroom drives me crazy but I should be happy.
All I keep saying is "don't touch anything!!" over and over again  And then I think puked in my mouth a little the other day went she bent over and her hair hit the toilet bowl (in that spot inn the front where the seat does not meet).

I am SO happy that my kid isn't the only one touching the hole
He is pooping in his underwear - and I am fine with it since I don't want him to with-hold it, but I just want him to poop on the toilet once. Just once. I told him he'll give FIVE lollypops AND an Imaginext Spaceship that he wants. what MORE could a kid ask for

Cailen will absolutely NOT go when we are watching - he asks us to leave. Pooping is a very private act and hard to do under pressure - maybe just leave him there and come back in a few minutes?
Then just go to town with the anti bacterial after.
ETA - I worked with a family who's little boy was 5 and still having poop issues (VERY high functioning kid - pretty much a regular little guy with mostly anxiety issues) - we actually had him going in a pull up - but sitting on the potty as if he were going in there. That got him over the hurdle. After - we would just bloomp it into the potty, wipe, and he would flush! He went fine within a month

I'm broke from the poo poo potty prizes. And my favorite is when he tries to con me into giving him one. The other day he peed after lunch and must have had a little chicken nugget on his clothes that fell in the toilet.
He tried to convince me it was poo poo and wanted a prize

I wish I had some good advice. I think alot of times they just have to be ready to do it. I thought it would be hard for DS too esp b/c he has severe constipation and is on a high fiber diet and on miralax. Surprisingly it hasnt effected him, he has no problem pooping on the potty. I wonder if in his case, its easier on the potty versus before he was trained and he would be on the floor straining. What I do try to do is give him his high fiber juice at a time in the day when I know we will be near a bathroom. He also knows the juice helps him to go, so he's prepared and knows poop will be coming. If you sort of know what drinks or fioods help him go, maybe try to time it. Like prepare him by saying, oh these (insert food/drink) will help you go poop...let's get ready to run to the potty! Also in the beginning he would get $$$ to put in his bank, plus 5 m&m's and a sticker-phew!!! Could you tell I was serious lol. Know he only will ask for a sticker or an m&m once in a while b/c he knows its just expected that he goes on the potty.

Oh - yeah - won't work if they don't stay on the toilet - Cai is way too OCD to get off once he is on!!! (actually - quite literally - he is starting to show some signs of OCD but hey - at least it works in our favor sometimes!!!)

Does he grunt or do any in particular to cue you in that he's starting? That's the best I've got right now. I just watch him and when he looks like he's gassy or working on something I sweep him up, tell him to wait, and get him on the toilet. When we were away a couple of weekends ago he went all on his own and I felt like his labor coach He was standing to pee and started squatting and yelling "the poo poo is cominnnnggg!!" I nearly crying, giddy with pride

mine is screwed up. 8 mos of poop training.
for almost a year now, completely trained...but never ever makes contact with the toliet. stands up on it, then squats down to poop.
whatever. I have no idea how long this will continue.
i think peer pressure is going to get him though. I have been doing elimination communication with Jessie...I sit her on there for 15 seconds once a day and she poops! sitting! she is totally stealing josh's thunder.

i thank G-d that my ds potty trained at 2 bc with the controlling 3 yr old monster he is these days i'm sure we would be having serious potty issues.
what i did for him was just make him poop in the bathroom and show him how i ploop his poop in the potty and let him flush. i also read him the book "where's the poop?" (cute lift and flap book on different animals and where they poop and finally a little boy pooping in the potty.) the thing that really helped though was i bought a large mac truck with all these cool parts and kept it in the bathroom for him to see. he knew that if he pooped then he'd get the truck and he'd ONLY get it for pooping.
he always wants privacy to poop and doesn't really touch his butt but will touch his penis and then ask me why it's so big!
he'll get it soon!

I don't think you will screw him up if you just tell him, that's where the poopies come out so we don't touch.
My kids has pushed me way past my comfort zone in gross factor and in prudishness.

Leo has no idea what to do with me
yeah, she started solids 2 weeks ago...that is a whole new ballgame in the world of cloth diapers. pooping on potty it is! she is so proud of herself.

Ayla was scared- very scared. She didn't like the position of sitting and pushing. So she stood up and did it in her panties or even the shower.
Finally one day she got over her own fear and just did it. It's just a matter of time. He knows what has to be done but just a little apprehensive about it kwim?
Amelia was obsessed- she wanted to watch it come out her bum hole.

He just pooped on the potty! I can't believe it. I know he's had to go all day long. I saw the face coming, and put him right on the toilet. He tried to jump off a few times. I ran and got his flashcards and sat there and did it with him. He kept saying "Dirty Mommy" so I had a feeling it was coming. Then he did it! I am so excited! He got two lollipops like I promised and will get his spaceship tomorrow.
I am praying this is the start of something!!!

Just to warn you...Lily had a lot of trouble getting the poop part of the potty training. She'd do it one day, then not the next...etc.
I cleaned A LOT of underwear for a month or two.
What really helped her was telling her she'd get a prize if she went poop on the potty and not in her underwear for 4 days. Each day that she did it, we'd count down...and we kept the prize (Pez) out in the open so she could see it. Worked like a charm, and she's been going strong for a few weeks now.
