pls tell me im just "new mom" nervous

ok, the other night i read that salicylic acid in moisturizers can cause birth defects. i have a face soap that i used a few times during this whole pregnancy that has salicylic acid in it and now i am freaking out. (i used cetaphil but during a week when i ran out, i went back to using my salicylic acid face soap).

ive also been thinking about all the things that ive done and eaten throughout these 9 months, thinking that in the beginning i was pretty good with eating- almonds, fruits, hard boiled eggs, chicken, cheese, etc, and how towards these last few weeks ive been drinking some coffee (not even a whole small cup); a few swigs here and there of soda, and ive been inhaling anything thats chocolate. actually, ive been inhaling a lot of things

i just pray that this baby is healthy

is it normal to be so incredibly nervous?
that face soap thing really threw me for a loop Chat Icon

you are fine!!!!!!!!
The soap a couple of times did not cause damage.
One cup of coffee a day is allowed.
Its been proven that babies whose mom's ate chocolate while pregnant tend to smile more. Lets just say my baby smiles alot!

It's normal to be anxious before and after baby. Those things sound like no big deal although I'm sure it doesn't feel that way. I wouldn't worry. Chat Icon

I had the same question for my OB , because I broke out like crazy with DD...

I had used one w/ salicytic acid a few times ( without thinking) and he said there is such a trace amount in it, not to worry...Of-course I stopped using it anyhow and my DD is perfectly fine Chat Icon

I was pretty strict on the other stuff but ate chocolate like a fiend Chat Icon

I can understand, you are coming close to your due date and all sorts of things go through your head.

About the soap, it's ok. I was told I could use it that enough would not absorb through the skin b/c you wash it off. So don't worry about that.

As for the coffee, sounds like you did nothing wrong IMO.

It's hard not to be anxious when the baby is coming. I do understand and it's very normal. I pictured all sorts of things wrong with my baby, as a result of something I did or did not do. And she was perfect. So you are normal, just know that.

I was nervous too and would read stuff online and ask my OB about it. I asked my OB about salicylic acid products - his response was to ask me if I was planning to eat them - lol, I got the picture pretty quick. Also, two cups of coffee a day is fine, as is chocolate. I couldn't eat healthy my entire pregnancy due to serious food aversions that thankfully went away and DD is fine. Just do the best you can! Chat Icon
