My coworker thinks it not normal to pee while taking a shower. I think it is...

Yes they all go to the same place!!!!!!
It has nothing to do with different pipes.

Also, for some eco-friendly homes, the shower water is reused to flush the toilet, so it immediately goes to the same place...

I don't pee in there on purpose. Like if I had choice between the toilet and shower, I obviously choose toilet hahaha everyone tries to "go" before you shower. Sometimes you don't have to. Then the water hits ya and bam- gotta pee. There is no way I'm getting out of the shower and drying off just to pee when there is a perfectly good drain right there

It's not like a puddle of pee though- it's moving water and it's all heading right down the drain.
It's not like you have the stopper plugged up on the tub part and are standing in standing water and pee.
It's all moving and swirling down the drain.
I don't stand ankle deep in anything in the shower.
If you do, your drains are clogged.

Agreed. Maybe you need to snake your drains! It is flowing, warm water- the urge comes on suddenly. Now peeing in a bath... that's nasty.

I don't stand in a puddle, but the water from my shower head does not directly go into the drain, it splashes around my tub, my tub is wet. If pee is mixed in with the water, then the pee is all over my tub too right? and my feet? I think that is gross, others don't. I never realized it was a common thing to pee in the shower. I'll have to leave a note in the bathroom the next time I have overnight guests

So funny this was posted Bc SO and I just had this discussion... Not about the pipe issue or drainage. We both know it's all the same... Just more about the hygiene or weirdness about peeing and, in my mind, the urine hitting my feet It came up when we were away in AC, I was in the shower and usually I pee first before getting in. But I forgot so when I was showering I said, ugh I have to pee. So he said, just go in the shower. I said, I've actually never done that. He's like, I do it all the time
So, I gave it a try lol... It felt weird to me. Convenient but strange. I have not done it since
