A mother of three was critically burned in a house fire late Sunday night in Bohemia.
Her three teenaged children were able to escape the blaze.
Suffolk police said Donna Blieka, 46, was "severely burned" after a blaze broke out in the living room of her ranch-style house at 883 Wall St. in Bohemia at 11:40 p.m. Sunday. Her children escaped the house and alerted a neighbor, a Sayville Community Ambulance volunteer, who called the fire in on his radio.
The neighbor, whom police identified as Luke Imperato, 21, and his father, Joseph, 53, who is a New York City firefighter, then entered the master bedroom window of the burning house to search for Blieka. But the father and son were unable to locate the woman -- and soon were driven out of the house by heat and smoke.
Firefighters from Bohemia, Lakeland and West Sayville later located Blieka inside the home and she was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. Doctors there arranged to have her transferred to the Nassau University Medical Center burn unit in East Meadow, where she is listed in critical but stable condition in a hyperbaric chamber used to aid burn victims.
The three teenaged children were treated at Southside Hospital -- and released, police said.
The fire is not considered to be suspicious, though an investigation is continuing.

Updated 3/27/07- it was just on the news that she passed away today. please pray for the family.we are so sad she was a really nice lady.

thank you everyone.... according to Dh's mom it look's like she is not going to make it, she is on a respirator and the smoke she inhaled caused her to suffer alot more than we thought, it went to her brain, I dont know if they have a DNR but they family is struggling to keep her alive. i will keep you all updated. thanks for listening, this was a real shock for us to hear.

I heard today that she is offically brain dead so it's going to be hard for the family to take her of the respirator and those poor kids now have to say goodbye to their mother... So heartbreaking
