As expected, there weren't enough votes to pass $5 billion for a Wall.
I do have to give the Senate a little credit, since they did pass a bill before they left saying that federal employees on furlough would get back pay. That doesn't help them through the holidays, but at least they know they aren't working for free.
This is the first time in 40 years that the gov't was shut down 3 times in one year.

Also, when the government shut down for 16 days in 2013, Obamacare was already passed into law, but the Republican lead House passed bills attempting to de-fund Obamacare provisions, which the Democrat led Senate wouldn't pass and Obama said he would veto. There was also an issue about needing to raise the debt ceiling, so it wasn't all about Obamacare.

Partial gov't shutdown
This is so disgusting. My DH’s cousin is furloughed. He is the sole provider for his family, which includes 3 young girls. I don’t know their financial standing, but missing two paychecks had got to be rough even if you are in an okay position.
