Opinions about being on line... nothing important just wanted to see...
Now you and SO are out shopping .. now its time to pay.. Do you think its unfair if one goes on one line and the other goes on the other line.. to see who gets to the register first.. then when one does you both switch to that line.. your buying the same item..
Ill admit Dh and I do this.. and some lady had a fit and was screaming at me calling me a cheater...  What did I cheat at?? I was buying maybe 4 little items at michaels craft store.. wasnt like I had did a whole shopping cart of stuff.

In order for that to happen he would actually have to be out shopping WITH me, so to me the concept is foreign 
However, for your 4 little things, it wouldn't bother me at all

I don't think it's unfair. What's unfair about it. You are in line no matter what. So what is the woman getting mad at? You were in front of her, now you are still in front of her! And for the people in the other line, they are all the more excited because that is one less person to go before them.

This is why I try to do all my shopping before noon on a Saturday, all year round. 
Totally fair, IMO. It's not like you let another person cut in front of you. Maybe she's mad she has no friends to shop with.

I do this too when there are 2 really long lines. One old man actually started a big fight with me at K-Mart one time over this. I don't see anything wrong with it

I'd have to say if the person in front of me had nothing and then all of a sudden here comes their SO with a whole cart full of stuff, I'd be a little mad...(because I purposely DO NOT get in line behind those people)... but 4 items is not a big deal..

I couldn't care less and I do it.
I'll usually give DH a few items to hang on to so it doesn't look so obvious what we're doing - most people on lines have nothing better to do than complain and start trouble (as is evidenced by the last few threads).

I would do it, DH would not. I get so peeved when I want to and his line would have gone faster but he already got off the line so it didn't matter.

1. I don't have a problem with it and;
2. I simply can't wait for Christmas to be over. People are getting crazy on the roads and in the stores. They just need to turn those  upside down.

ITA. my DH and i do this all the time but i try not to do it with a huge cart of stuff because i know how much i'd be pizzed off if it was done to me!!

imo there is nothing wrong with it. in fact i think it is pretty smart to do when the lines are so long. what's the difference. you were already in line and you waited your turn. i think the AP had it right when she said she's just mad she didn't have a friend to shop with. she probably would have done it too then.

Nah...that doesn't bother me. What does bother me is when one family member waits on line and as soon as they get to the register, 4 others come up from shopping and all pay separately.

I feel the same way. A few extra items are not going to make or break my day but if someone swooped in with a whole cartload I would be really annoyed.

Unless it were for one or two items someone forgot after they got on line, that would make me nuts. I think people should get on line when they are done shopping.
