Omg really bad eczema....

DD had a patch by her ear that wouldnt go away -- I started applying California Baby Super Sensitive Everyday Lotion a couple times a day, and within a week, it was almost gone. A couple weeks later it was completely gone.

We also do organic fruits and veggies, not sure if that helps, but I dont think it hurts.

I used to have really bad eczema - got rid of it by applying apple cider vinegar followed by vitamin e oil. I thought that may be too harsh for dd, and was worried to use so much vitamine e on her.

I have it on my hands & have had it my WHOLE life. It comes & go's depending on time of year. The winter is horrible because when cold the skin cracks. All you can do is use the creams. I am not sure how it is on face of infant but I know I drive my husband insane picking my hands all the time. I can't imagine how that little guy feels. Chat Icon

Re: Omg really bad eczema....

My DS has eczema and for him the summertime is the worst. It flairs up behind this knees, in the cracks of his elbows and on his cheeks. The other day it was so bad it was all around his eyes too....Luckily he doesn't scratch from it. We also saw a ped determatologist and they also prescribed two creams (one for the face and one for the body). We also took him to an allergist who said he had NO allergies (which is a good thing and also a bad thing because if it was an allergy we could easily eliminate what the root of the problem was). I would limit any "high allergy" foods if you are at that point and just use very mild soaps, detergents, etc...Even limit how much fragrance you use (perfume, detergent, etc) and also make those who are around your LO a lot aware of the this as well. GOod luck! The good thing is it will go away!

DS has mild spots on cheek..dr. once said it was baby acne..but I think it is eczema considering he is having milk allergy issues...I used cetaphil and it seems to work.

Re: Omg really bad eczema....

My boys both get eczema when they have dairy. DS#1 is 22 months and he would get horrible patches before he started on solids. I switched to free and clear detergent, California Baby lotion and soap and it almost went away completely. When he started solids I noticed that he would get patches when he dairy as well as break out in hives. We took him to the ped allergist and he is allergic. I didn't put two and two together until he started solids because I EBF. With DS#2 (3 months) I also EBF but I was in the hospital for 2 weeks when he was 6 weeks old and wasn't able to use my pumped milk so he had formula and he got eczema and horrible diaper rash so we switched to alimentum and they both cleared up.

Fewer baths for shorter times. You can do wash ups instead of full baths.

Re: Omg really bad eczema....

My DD and i both have bad eczema. I agree with PP, use fragrance free , dye free products. We use 7th generation and method brand hand wash, laundry detergent and cleansers. I use earth mamma angel baby non-scents hand to toe wash for showers/baths and unrefined (raw) shea butter (Bodybutterstore.com or amazon.com) as a moisturizer twice a day. Also, dont bath every day. I use badger baby sunscreen as well. We have found doing these things and using these products have kept our eczema in check without the need for steriod creams.

Re: Omg really bad eczema....

We have done the prescription stuff to get it under control. Now every morning we do 1% cortisone to his face, head, wrists, arms, legs, and ankles. At night these same spots get Bag Balm. Gross and weird I know but I swear it is the ONLY thing that helps the dry part. The cortisone works great to keep it at bay, but he is still so dry and he scratches more so the bag balm just makes him feel like butter. LOVE it!
