Maybe a precious moment, they do have engagement ones.... A nice picture frame, a wedding guest book,a vase,2 wine glasses that says bride and groom... Or just a Giftcard to macy's. Congratulations to your friend on her engagement and also to you for being the maid of honor... what a privelge that is.

a great gift that my sil got me was: a wedding planning organizer book. Its a big trapper keeper and its got folders in with each aspect of wedding planning (like: flowers/dress/halls etc) and note bad and calculator in it. It will be her life and help keep her sane while planning

Congratulations!
The best engagement present I got was a set of books from my cousin. She got me The Wedding Countdown Book (came with clock), Emily Post on Weddings, Chicken Soup for the Bride's Soul, and a few chococlate bars for dealing with the planning stress.
