Ok, so the doctor gave me an antibotic
and I went to pick it up and the pharmacist told me NO caffeine for 10 days!!!

I read all the info. on the drug and no where does it say anything about caffeine.
he aslo gave me a cough suppressant to take as needed and it causes drowsiness, I guess I won't be taking it before or during work.

I've been on Levaquin and had the usual caffine.
As far as stomach issues, take some probiotics or eat yogurt.

He said no dairy products 2 hours before taking and then he said oh and no caffeine. And I said the whole time and he said yes.

I took a class with the nursing dept at my job (I am not a nurse) and I remember them saying that caffeine can effect how a drug works and so can orange juice. I guess it either speeds up the drugs effectiveness or slows it down. I bet its really with all drugs but they just dont tell ya. it would make sense to me that there will ALWAYS be a drug interaction regardless of the drug..

I've been on Levaquin on numerous occasions and had caffeine. The only thing was that you couldn't have dairy s/t like 2 hours before and after(?) taking the med. I never had stomach problems on this medication but I always made sure I ate s/t with it. Crackers or pretzels if it wasn't a mealtime.
ETA: Personally, I would call the MD that prescribed it and ask him/her about the no caffeine thing.

it could also be because caffeine can cause a hypersecretion of gastric (stomach) acids, and this drug seems like it really attack the stomach.
Also- one of the side effects of the drug is arrythmia (can be fatal).. so i'm guessing- it can cause your heart rythm to be out of whack, and we all know the effect caffeine has on that too... so it just puts you at a greater risk.
i'm sure its not super common- but why take the risk to find out?
ETS- this is just what i'm guessing based on the adverse reactions

Really? I was on Levaquin for a month for my kidney infection and before I had my surgery on my kidney. I was never told no caffeine, but I was not able to breastfeed (which I am sure you won't have that problem).
It's a very strong antiobiotic. I got severe headaches the first two days I took it, then I was fine. No stomach problems or anything else.
ETA: I took 500 mg tablets, the mid-range ones.
