"Official" closing date...question....
Ok...so we bumped up the "on or about date" for closing one month...when do we get the ACTUAL closing date?
The seller is signing the contracts today at 3

a few days before. you have to get the lawyers/bank/buyer/sellers in the same room with conflicting schedules. my closing date changed about 12 hours before

our attorney, their attorney and the banks attorney are actually setting the date this week because the seller's are moving to Carolina this weekend and have children they will be leaving down there with family while the come up for the final walkthrough and closing. Luckily they want it finalized to make travel arrangements and child care.
Usually though it changes a lot and it can change very close even after its finalized. My father is a real estate attorney (luckily ours).

I was hoping to have something concrete soon...being we have to give our landlords some type of notice.

I got my closing date a week before we closed. We had in our contract on or about Dec 31 (so it had to be done by Jan 31) and we closed Jan 29. We learned we would be closing on this date a week beforehand.

Wow, I didn't realize just how different NY is from NJ! We actually had to agree on a closing date when we signed the contracts. We signed in June and closed on August 12th
