October Moms, another question...How does your newborn sleep? Swaddled, sleep sack, etc

Hi Moms,

I'm just wondering what you put your DC in to sleep.

We have been swaddling our DS since day 1 (he's 6 weeks) and he of course has hated it since then. Even the nurses at the hospital would wonder how he got his arm out.

He struggles and fights the swaddle, he grunts (loudly) in the middle of the night as he struggles to get free and starts crying. He moves his arms AND his legs, it's crazy!

So, last night I thought it might be best not to swaddle him and instead we placed him in a "Dreamsie" which is like a sleep sack except with sleeves too and that didn't last long. He kept waving his arms.

I'm not sure what to do tonight. Do I swaddle, stick to the Dreamsie? If I swaddle is it best to use a blanket or a SwadddleMe?

Agggh! I really need some good sleep, migraines are no fun.

TIA!

DD does the same thing...she grunts and wiggles and eventually I find her in the morning with her arms free.

I still swaddle her though because her reflexes are still really jerky and they are constantly hitting her in the face if I don't.

same with me. I swaddle him in a blanket and he always gets his arms free. he loves putting his hands over his face. he wont sleep as long as if i can get the swaddle tight enough, but he'll still sleep. i would stick with whatever lets him sleep the longest. i have the swaddle me, but havent tried it yet

My DD does the same thing also. Now I just keep her arms out and she sleeps fine like that...with her arms sprawled out Chat Icon. Once in a while she will let me swaddle her but she seems more content with her arms free.

We use the sleep sack on DD. We swaddled for a few days and she found her way out so now we just use the sleep sack

I swaddle her with her arms out because no matter what I used (sleep sack, tight swaddle) she managed to get her hands free. She likes to sleep with her hands up to her face also.

We swaddled DS the first few days after he came home. But he is another one who can't stand to have his hands stuck inside. Now we just swaddle his lower half. He seems content with it....

same here...DD grunts and wiggles when I swaddle her but she eventually sleeps the best when she is swaddled.

I swaddle them both, but Sydney would sleep through a hurricane if it blew through the living room and so I just use a receiving blanket and wrap it lightly.

Chloe is not a good sleeper to say the least and I swaddle her tightly in the miracle blanket to get her to stay asleep.
