Nursing bra question...

I plan on BFing baby. I would like to get a nursing bra now, so I am set for awhile. Question is, did your boobs get bigger after giving birth? Would I get an accurate fit now?

TIA!

Re: Nursing bra question...

My boobs get a tad bit bigger after her birth, then got smaller within a month or so of giving birth and stayed that way until i stopped nursing. I would say they went up a cup size within the first week, and then went down a cup size for the term while i nursed.

Re: Nursing bra question...

Yes they did. When I went to the store they were able to tell me what size I should buy based on what I was wearing at the time.

ETA I ended up going to destination maternity in the Source mall. They were very helpful. You will need several bras for day and then a few for night as well.

Yes, mine got much bigger!Chat Icon

But the LC woman told me to get a nursing bra in the size I was before I had my DD, she said it will help in not leaking.

Re: Nursing bra question...

I have to say, I don't think mine got bigger. I bought nursing bras in the same size that I wore while PG and after a month or 2, I had to buy a couple smaller. My favorite nursing bra was a Leading Lady one, with formed cups that I got from JCPenney.com. After that, I liked the Medela cotton underwire. For the most part, I didn't really like most of the cotton ones because the cotton stretched out of shape too much by the end of the day, and I didn't think they gave much support. Also, with some shirts that I wore, you could see the nursing pad underneath; not to mention that a cotton shirt wouldn't "slide" over the cotton bra, so the material from the shirt kept getting "stuck" on my boobs if I lifted my arms for something.

Re: Nursing bra question...

I bought two in a cup size up and used them in the beginning and now I am back to my "normal" size....so I have more in that size....I also wore one to bed the first month and a half as well...but that was just me!

Re: Nursing bra question...

They were only a little bit bigger for the first week or two. Buy it in your regular size. And don't forget nursing pads because you really leak for the first few weeks.

I've been nursing for 20 months now (Chat Icon) and saw my size change a few times. My favorite nursing bras are "glamourmom" nursing tanks which are of the small-medium-large variety so the sizing isn't precise. I find them to provide the best coverage for discreet nursing in public. There is just a small opening where there has to be one, and your belly is entirely covered.

They probably got 1 cup bigger but also your size goes up and down when you nurse, at least that is what i noticed. When it was time to nurse they were pretty full and once I nursed or pumped they got smaller. They have a sports bra type that criss crosses and I think that might be your best bet.

Re: Nursing bra question...

I've been nursing for four months & I am one cup size bigger than prepregnancy (same as when I was pregnant). I wear a sleeping bra at night, every night because I leak and need to wear breast pads at night. My favorite daytime bra is an underwire with padded cups- you can never see my nursing pads with it on. But for the first few weeks, I would NOT recommend an underwire. They can be uncomfortable when you are engorged in the beginning. I don't care for the nursing tanks. I have one and still have the tags on it. I find it uncomfortable & I think my boobs look funny in it.

Re: Nursing bra question...

I'm a huge fan of built in bra tanks - I live (and sleep) in them. I got much bigger for 2-3 month after E was born (they weren't big to start with). Then it leveled off, and now I'm close to my pre-pregnancy size.

Re: Nursing bra question...

I was always told that you should buy your nursing bra in the third trimester. I always did that and it fit just fine after the baby came and throughout nursing.

Re: Nursing bra question...

i must have spent 100's trying to find a comfotable, yet flattering and still practicle nursing bra. It was tough. Target has a selection that i did like by Liz Lang. I found that my boobs did get bigger. And as you nurse throughout the day and your supply is constantly being replennished, you can drastically chnge all day long. try to find something with stretch(like a sports bra that snaps down) Not very flattering but Great for around the house. Some friends have used regular bras a size or two bigger. Its not easy sometimes finding a bra normally... nevermind changing sizes and the function. Good Luck!!! P.S. If you have the time, try them on.
