Nursery Furniture - What do you do when u have 2nd baby?

Say you buy a convertible crib and furniture to match. Who gets that furniture when you have a 2nd? Does the 1st baby keep it and you buy a whole new nursery for the 2nd? Or, do you keep the old furniture for the new baby and buy toddler furniture for the 1st? What are you/did you do?

i will be using the nursery furniture for #1 and #2. i only bought a crib to match existing furniture.

when DS (#1) is old enough, and we are hopefully on #2, he will get "big boy" furniture and move to another room. then #2 will move into the nursery.

we want them 2-3 years apart so it should work out pretty well.

We got my first DD the convertible crib suite and when I was pregnant with #2 DD got all new furniture and the second DD was given the covertible crib suite.

We have a convertible crib for DS but now have him in a firetruck toddler bed and then will get him a new twin. The convertible thing was a waste for us. We also got him 2 dressers.

For baby #2, we will be getting all new dressers but if it is a boy we will keep DS's crib and if it is a girl, we want a white crib.

I kept the nursery furniture together as a set and got Molly big girl furniture. I plan on keeping the nursery furniture as a set and getting Jason ba big boy set when he outgrows it as well.

Jared was using the headboard from the crib but recently got new furniture. So the crib goes into the new room as well as the changing table.

We kept the nursery in tact as is.... and moved my DS to his own room with all new furniture (toddler bed and dresser).

Even though my crib is a convertible crib, I probably will never use it as a bed as I see myself buying my DD a very girly antique white bedroom set

I am using the old nursery for the new baby and bought a new (to-us, gently used) crib for DD who still needs a crib to go in her new room.

We bought all new furniture. Although DD has a toddler bed in her room, we felt her furniture (color/style) was too "girly" and since we're having a this time.. we just decided to buy a new crib (not convertible), a changing table/dresser & a glider/ottoman. IF we are blessed with baby # 3 then we will be set with furniture that would work for either a or a

so I only have one kid- but this is what we are doing (we're trying for number 2 now):

DD is 19 months and she's been sleeping in a bed since she was 12 months (I know this is weird).

when she was in the crib- we only had crib- then we had a low dresser that we put the changing pad on. I sort of feel nursery furniture really can't be used down the road- so better to just get a regular dresser that can do double duty.. i even saw in Cookie magazine someone use a vintage vanity (obviously in a girl's room).

We just moved to a new place and DD got a new big-girl bed and furniture that my dad made for her in white painted maple. The crib, which is natural- is in storage and will remain there until #2 comes, if ever.

Then we'll go ahead & buy #2 a new dresser to be used as a changing table...

DD has the glider in her room for now- but should #2 come, it woudl move.

I used the nursery furniture for baby #2 and I purchased new teen twin furniture for DC#1. When DC#3 arrives, I will use that same nursery furniture and get new teen twin bedroom furniture for her.

We left the nursery furniture for Baby #2. DD has a new room with a full bed and dresser and night stand.
Baby #2 will use the furniture in the nursery but get a bed when old enough (we didn't get a convertible crib)

Thank you for your replies! I assumed we'd use the furniture for #2 (when/if we have a 2nd, we're just baking the 1st now ) but DH felt we were just going to rebuy everything if we have a 2nd.
