night terrors?

i am not sure if it is night terrors or not, but everynight hannah wakes up at least once screaming bloody murder. i run to her room and try to console her, change her diaper and she continues to scream her head off. nothing i can do consoles her so finally we just let her cry in her crib and she goes back to sleep. does this sound like night terrors? i am worried too that we are creating and reinforcing a habit, but when she screams like that my heart starts pounding.Chat Icon

Jake did that around 2 years old for a few months every night. I remember nothing would console him. THankfully he eventually grew out of it. Chat Icon

Re: night terrors?

Does she seem awake, yet not fully aware? I used to have horrible night terrors as a child as a result of food allergies. Might be something to look into.

My son will be 2 next month and we've had a handful of these nights. Just last night, as a matter of fact. He woke up screaming at 3 am and didn't go back down until 5 (I had to hold him/cuddle him the entire time). Chat Icon Poor baby. Chat Icon

thats interesting. the last couple of nights she had eaten tomato sauce and pasta and i swear that on the days she ate this, thats when she woke up hysterical. also yesterday, day care gave her ice cream, which she has never had before and then at night she was hysterical. its something worth looking into!
