Need travel inspiration

In such a funk trying to plan for a vacation for this summer.

We usually do big trips and haven't traveled since COVID. Could use some ideas!

with kids or not? how many people? US or international? what kinds of things do you usually like to do on vacations??

my boys are 10 and 7... and this summer we're doing some national parks out west (4th graders can get a free national parks pass for their families...) so we're doing some national parks out in Utah and Arizona. the kids probably will be bored, but at least my husband and i can see some cool stuff HAHA

Alaska is BEAUTIFUL and REALLY needs the tourism right now, becasue they've had 2 summer cruise seasons cancelled Chat Icon

The Bahamas (either Atlantis or BahaMar) are on my list for some point, soon, too for a beach vacation.

we LOVE the outer banks in NC.... but i think the rental houses there have been booked up solid this year- people discovered the secret! LOL

The CA coast is a neat trip, too... fly into San Fran, and drive down the Pacific Coast highway

Re: Need travel inspiration

We are family of 4. Two kids 12 and 10.

I am open to anything really. I've gone back and forth on international travel as I do worry about testing to come home and needing to quarantine. Nothing is off the table though.

Re: Need travel inspiration

We spent a lot of time in Bermuda last summer and my kids who were similar ages had a great time. We swam with the dolphins but mostly we just hung by the beach and pool. My then 12 year old golfed a lot with my husband and a friend of his who also happened to be there.

We also went to Kingsmill in Virginia - it's right outside of busch gardens, literally right next to the entrance and also very close to colonial williamsburg. The resort itself is nice. There are two golf courses and a nice pool complex. The pool was closed while we were there but it looked really nice. And you don't have to fly if you go there.

We went to St. Thomas over spring break and that was fun but more relaxing.

I also just got back from a girls trip to riviera maya. Most of the resorts provide onsite testing for $25 so it makes it very easy and convenient to test and come back.

We are also planning on going to Costa Rica this summer. Seems like they make it fairly easy to test at most of the resorts.

If you are vaccinated you don't need to quarantine when you get home.

All in Guanacaste. Starting out by the volcano, heading to the beach.... We will be in Pennisula Papagayo for a week and in Playa Conchal for 2 weeks.

The residence club at the Ritz Carlton. It was really nice!

July. I'm in a few CR travel groups and the problem is the populated San Jose area really. They have curfews for drivers etc. Doesn't apply to travelers. The rainforest restaurants etc. All still open.

Ha! Maybe!! Our flight is at 130! Are you renting a car? I'm blown away at how expensive it is for a week. The cheapest I found was Vamos for $500 without the CWD since they will accept a letter from my credit card company stating they cover that. So we only need their required liability.

Yes we are there for 28 days so we rented a car. I am only paying $808 for the entire time through Budget. I booked it forever ago though. And we are picking up and returning to Liberia - maybe that is part of it?

Wow that's great! I'm picking up and returning to Liberia also. I will have to check their rates. Make sure that includes the liability insurance though. Because many rates don't I discovered, then it adds hundreds!

I don't ever get the insurance but I thought if you put a rental car on an Amex you got the amex insurance. I thought that was one of the perks. Need to double check that because god forbid something happens to the car I don't want to pay for it!

In any other place you don't have to but in Costa Rica they make you take out their liability insurance. It's so annoying. The only thing they will accept credit card coverage for is the CWD (collision and damage) and for that they make you get a letter. They won't accept anything else. So they will tack on the liability at pick up! This is talked about a lot in the Travel groups! So often times people have a cheap quote but then it ends up being so much more!
