Need Glasses
I just got my child glasses for $400 and they lasted one day because the baby took them from her several times and finally broke them. So, looking for a reliable place to get something for her. She has a high astigmatism, so I think I need a place that I can trust to make them correctly. I think at the place I got the first pair (at the eye doctor) they all run around the same price. And, if anyone knows a place that can repair the original pair - the hinge just broke right off. The place we got them is closed for a few days.

I would get the pair you just got fixed. It isn't difficult to fix a hinge. I would imagine the place you got them from would fix for free but any store that sells glasses should be able to fix them. You could probably even bring them to BJs or Costco.
I would not even entertain the thought of buying a new pair. You spent $400 and they are a day old. That would literally be throwing money away.

I was going to buy the new pair less breakable or much cheaper, lol. And I wanted to get an extra pair anyway. I just wanted to see how she did with the script first. Honestly, I'm sure I overpaid (probably paid double at least) at the optometrist in the eye doctor office. It was convenient because we were there and it was someone that fits kids glasses a lot and I just wanted them quickly... I do want to get them fixed if it doesn't cost a ridiculous amount. I googled and the frames can be bought for $84. So, worst case, I can get those and have the lenses put in...but I still want to order the second pair because the place we bought them isn't even open until Wednesday to find out if it's fixable.

Re: Need Glasses
I buy my girls' glasses at either BJs or Walmart...the lenses are made outside and I can't imagine that they wouldn't be able to do it right. You can get the frames for cheap (they start at under $10 at walmart) at both of those places, it will be the lenses that cost you more. I like my girls to have two pairs so that one can be left at school and the other for homework at home.

Thanks! I went to Costco today. They didn't have a big selection, but we found something for $110 (59.99 frames and 49.99 lenses). And they're supposed to come standard with anti-reflection which cost me $75 at the opthalmologist.
The optician at Costco said the old pair wasn't fixable. I'll bring them in to where I bought them and see if they can do anything.

Davis Vision gives you a one year guarantee on the glasses. They will fix for free or replace for free if not repairable. We have used that guarantee several times for DS.

I might need this. They repair/replace for any reason?

As far as I know. If the frame breaks (like yours just did) and they can't fix it, they will replace it. You should call them for any specific questions. They are always very helpful when I have a question.

Re: Need Glasses
DS wears glasses and this is the reason we always buy him 2 pairs at a time. One will inevitably break or need to be repaired, so you need a backup. It could take a couple of weeks for a replacement pair. He's been wearing glasses for under 2 years and we've had 2 breaks already where they needed to replace the frame entirely.

DS wears glasses and we used to them from a place that wouldn't take insurance and charged us $400. Then our eye doctor recommended Stony Brook Vision World - they take our insurance and it only costs us $90 for the same frames we were getting at the other place.

Re: Need Glasses
My DS fell shortly after getting his 1st pair of glasses and broke them. I called the place I got them and they replaced the frame for free. I was shocked. Worked out well.
But since then I only buy one brand of frames that are kid-friendly and durable - Nanovista. My son gets compliments on his glasses all the time from random people and they are flexible and come in fun colors.

Those look nice! Do you buy them at a local shop?
My DD's frames are getting replaced too. Not for free, but for a small fee.
