Need advice girls
My SIL's husband called me this morning to tell me that this Mom died this morning  It's a mess, my SIL is in the Bahamas and is trying to get home.
Anyways my Mom wants to send a basket, not flowers though. She was going to send a basket of edible arrangements but my MIL said that they are not big fruit people.
Any suggestions as to what she could send???

I'm sorry for your loss.
A cold cut platter with rolls/bagels from a nice deli would be nice. They wouldn't have to worry about food for a day, or they could put it out in between wakes. I know when an uncle passed on DH's side thats what a few people did and it was so helpful for DH's aunt!

Don't send fruit if you can help it.
A basket was delivered to me for my neighbor. He has lost his wife about three weeks earlier and was still getting baskets, but he wasn't home one day so I took the delivery. When I handed it to him, he said that he hoped to never see another piece of fruit again. Everyone had sent fruit.

I was going to say a gift certificate to a restaurant but I am not sure if that would be right either...I was thinking so they wouldn't have to cook

I just got an e-mail from my MIL (the one that said don't do fruit) that she ordered a fruit arrangement from Edible arrangements. 
I will NEVER understand this woman.
Thank you girls. I think my mom is going to do the cookies and DH's other sister's have decided that we should figure out where to order a food platter from because they are too busy.
