Need a special recommendation for a nice baby or girl doll for a 2.5 year old.
I'm looking for a really special doll and a baby doll for a 2.5 year old. She has a bitty baby and plays with it all the time. She also has the bitty twins and plays with the girl all day long. I had been considering getting her another set this time 2 girls of the bitty twins, but now I'm thinking maybe something different.
I don't think she ready for a real American Girl - only because she sleeps, eats, plays all day with her girl twin but the hair is a mess and it has taken a lot of love and wear.
She already has about 5 baby dolls but they are just simple mommy and me ones.
Does anyone have a special girl doll or baby doll that they recommend. DD#1 is getting a leap pad as her big gift and I want to get DD#2 something special but I'm kind of at a loss. The only thing she is asking Santa for is a baby and a girl doll.

I have been admiring the Pottery Barn soft dolls.
They look sturdy and age appropriate for a 2.5 yr old, but have the fun of changes of clothing and are more of a 'big girl' doll.

My now 5 y.o. has one of the Our Generation dolls from Target. We got it for her for Christmas last year. I was debating getting her the American Girl doll, but as I watched her throwing the doll down the stairs shortly after she got it (the doll was "jumping") I was REALLY happy with my decision
She loves the doll and I think it would fit your needs perfectly. They also sell a lot of accessories (bed, closet, clothing, etc) so maybe you can get a bunch of stuff to go with it.
We are getting one for my almost 3 y.o. for Christmas this year and I am planning on getting both girls "dolly and me" outfits - where it comes with both an outfit in their size and a matching one for the doll

Those are so cute!! The only thing I'm concerned with is that the yarn hair won't hold up. Have you looked at them? DD#1 had a ballet dancing doll that you can attach to your feet and they dance with you. The hair was yarn and within a few times of playing with it - it was coming out and all over the place.
Do you know anything about the other dolls (gotz)? They look cute but I'm not sure I want to spend $89 when the bitty twins are only $100 and you get 2 dolls.

Those look great! At that price I could get her some extra things to go with it. How do they hold up? She will probably be playing with this doll every day and sleeping with it. So it will take a loving beating.

DD received this Madame Alexander baby doll for her first birthday and she loves it. It is her "baby" she takes it for walks in her stroller every day. She loves this doll over all of the other dolls that she has.Doll

Disney Store has the most beautiful Princess dolls. They are a product of the animators vision of what each princess would look like as a child. They are beyond precious. My DD is 3 and I bought her two of them for Xmas. You will fall in love with them. They are $24.99 each.

Picked up one today, Snow White, and she is ADORABLE! Love her hair!
P.S. The Target dolls don't hold up well at all. The hair gets really mangy.
