my dog is Constantly scratching... help please!!
i dont know if its the hot weather or what.. but my dog is scratching and itchy like crazy!
i have been checking her for fleas or ticks, and nothing.. also she is on frontline..
do you think it might be allergies ?
im not sure if i should bring her to the vet or is it a normal dog thing?

My fathers dog started this last summer and has again this summer. The vet said if the scratching is lasting more than 4months out of the year then it could be allergies and should be evaluated by a dermatologist. He gave him a shot and some pills and has helped with the scratching. Now we have to wait until Oct. and see if it continues.. then go from there if we need to bring to dermatologist.

Where is she scratching? If its her ears she might have an infetion. try to smell for an odor. Also if its all over her face then check to see if she has little tiny bumps like hives. If so she may have a food allergy. Lola sure does and ever time I give her chicken she gets hives and scratches for 3 days until its out of her system. they only come out around her face and chin area. good luck HTH

we had the same thing with mootsie.
we found out that she had an ear infection...it wasn't one that we could really notice on our own (nothing could be seen in her ears) and she actually had to go on 2 pills, an ear ointment, and an ear wash to treat it!
it also could be fleas. do you use frontline or anything like that?
the other thing it could be is dry skin or allergies.

It could be a number of things... ear infection, allergies, mange.
I would try to get her to the vet.

If it's an ear infection, you'll have to treat your dog with meds. I would go to the vet.

no, its not her ears, and i check them all the time to make sure they are clean..
she always scratches her legs, like on the inside

yea its definitely not an ear infection.. she is not going near her hears with her paws.. its just her legs

The vet said if the scratching is lasting more than 4months out of the year then it could be allergies and should be evaluated by a dermatologist. He gave him a shot and some pills and has helped with the scratching. Now we have to wait until Oct. and see if it continues.. then go from there if we need to bring to dermatologist.
yea its weird because she hasnt always itched like this .. she is almost 2.. and i have noticed that its been these couple of months in the summer.. so maybe i should wait till october and see if she is still doing it? maybe its the weather?

Cody my fathers dog started last summer after he turned one. What kind of dog is she? My fathers dog is a puggle, and i know pugs have skin disorders.
