My brother got engaged...bittersweet without my dad
My brother got engaged on 12-27. My DH, mom and I all knew because he asked us to help out and look at rings. His fiance knew also, she helped with the style of ring as well (kind of an inside joke in my family, my mom picked out her setting when she got engaged to my dad)
I thought my mom would be happy, and don't get me wrong she is, but I think she has finally realized my dad isn't coming home. She was in denial. I cried to her the other day and told her I haven't slept worrying about her and she needs to talk to someone so she finally is and is looking forward to it!

I know what it's like to just want your mom to be happy, but knowing nothing will make her happy.  I feel so helpless sometimes.
