My baby is ONE today! Happy Birthday Johnny!!
This day last year I was admitted to the hospital to be induced. There wasn't space for me to be induced on 9/12 as originally requested, and they wanted to get Johnny out sooner than later. We soon came to accept the fact that our son would possibly come into the world on a day that was marred with sadness.
However, I began to realize and come to accept the fact that although 9/11 will forever be known as a tragic day full of sadness, life does in fact go on. Maybe this was God's way of saying to me that this little boy would give reason to celebrate life and smile this day for the rest of my life instead of focusing only on the tragedy that struck America.
Johnny-What can I say? I sit here writing, my eyes already filling with tears as I remember how much we wanted and dreamt of you long before you were here. I thought you'd be a girl...imagine my surprise when on your ultrasound I saw boy parts!!  I immediately fell in love with the idea of you, and when you were born...words just cannot describe how much my heart grew that day.
I love your smile, your curly curly light brown locks, your big blue eyes, the way you want to cuddle with me when you are sleepy, the way you run around our apartment screeching at nothing, the way you jump up and down when daddy comes in the door from work, and really everything about you. Even the crying, the mini tantrums and the way you choose sometimes to wake up at 4am to "play".
Happy Birthday Baby Johnny-we love you now and forever!

Although today will always be a remembrance to those that lost their lives in a horrendous act of cruelty and murder; it should also be a time to remember the beauty of humans and the immense capacity of the human heart to heal and do beautiful things such as have children.
