Moms who made/make their own baby food

What kinds of purees do you make/ have you made?

I want to expose Bella to other tastes. Just wondering if you've tried and other foods besides the normal baby food ones.

Also, I have the book First Foods. Any one ever try any of the recipes?

I used to puree all fruits and veggies..you name it ...it went in the blender. I dont have any recipes I used to just buy fruits and veg, put them in the blender and freeze them.

I like the site www.wholesomebabyfood.com -- lots of great advice on making your own baby food. It's super easy.

Stupid question:

Can you JUST use a blender, or do you need a baby food maker? Or are those just a ploy to get more money out of parents?

I use my food processor -- you can use a blender. I did buy the small food mill at Babies R Us which is great for small portions.

I pretty much puree-ed all fruits and veggies - much more variety then the jars. Avocados were a favorite, and mangoes were another big hit.

I have been using a food processor. I mix a lot of the fruits together to make it different. I need to get one of these cookbooks everyone is talking about. Chat Icon

I just checked out the site and it's great! Thanks!

I have a food mill, but so far have only made things in the mini processor.

Are there any foods I should stay away from? She's 6 months old.

I use my food processer.

I have made all the regular baby foods. now that he is eating thicker textures and has had so much, I am making my own more.

Last night I made him brown rice with green beans, corn and peas. Added the veggies to the rice and blitzed it in the processor. He had it for lunch today with some pork cutlets that I also blitzed for him, and he loved itChat Icon

I highly recommend getting the Magic Bullet Blender. It was a lifesaver for us. I would just blend up whatever we had for dinner. Sometimes I'd make things special for her like chicken with apples and cinnamon, or chicken with skinned grapes, but for the most part, I'd just toss in whatever I made for us. She loved chicken francaiseChat Icon
