Wait!!! Is that the site I got rejected from a mommy group?!??!?! The leader emailed me on a Friday to contact her (I work long hours on the weekends) and by Tuesday she rejected me because I didn't contact her fast enough.

I remember applying to one group several months ago and I don't think I received an email.. 
Another group I applied for just recently wants to chat with me on the phone first, what is up with that

I belong to LI Moms On The Go. We can't do a lot of the meetups yet since Ryan is still so little.
But we do all the walks (boardwalk walks since its summer, mall walks in the winter).
Meet for lunches and some playdates.
Really keeps us busy!

Most of them require a "phone interview" first. It's to make sure you are a legit mommy and not some perv. Seemed weird to me at first too, but then after I went through "the process" it made sense.

Sometimes there are "dues".. like 10$ for a year or something like that.. nothing crazy

I pay 20 for the year. It's to help offset the cost of having a group on Meetup. Apparently Meetup charges to organize a group.
To me, 20 bucks is no big deal. I feel I am giving DS early socialization plus I am making friends with girls who have things in common with me.

I belong to the working moms on LI group but only went on one outing so far. I haven't paid my $10 dues, so I could have been kicked out for all I know at this point!  The people I met were really nice though. At the time DD was the youngest, and the outings didn't really suit her age group.

I just joined one and the dues are $11. I haven't been able to go to anything yet because the playdates are during the week. But when school starts, it looks like the playdates are on the weekends more.

i signed up for the bayside/queens one.... i dont like it.. ive gone to a few of the groups and noone was there. i dont really want to go to someones house i dont know first. id like to meet in a group setting...
i guess no friends for me....

I belong to the group in Orange County with DonnaMarie & dandr10199. It's great. It cost us $10 - but I believe that is for the charges that the organizer incurs for running the group thru meetup.com.
