Medication ?

So I watched a documentary last week called "Fat, Sick and Nearly dead" it was about a guy who was on a bunch of medication if I remember correctly it was like 20 pills he had to take A DAY.

It also came up in the previous thread on here about weight.

So I was just curious,


How often do you take pills?


Made it a poll to keep it annonymous b/c I realize that this is a pretty personal question.

I don't have to take any medication thank goodness but my dh has to take like 15 pills a day. He has epilepsy so obviously it's a special case but I see how he struggles with it. He is like a slave to his pills... If he misses just one dose it becomes a huge disaster and it can be so hard for him at times.

I get bad migraines so to help control them I take a pill daily for them

Only when prescribed by a dr. which is almost never.

Once a week subcutaneous injection.

Very rarely. When I was on birth control I took that daily. Other than that I only ever take advil (which I can't now since I am preggo) and claritin here or there if my allergies act up.

I am really against popping pills for no good reason. If I am legitimately sick my doctor might prescribe a zpack or antibotic but I know SO many people who self medicate, take this or that for every ache and pain. It is addictive and BAD for you. My BFF is a pharmacist and the things she sees are shocking.

I take an OtC allergy medicine. I try to take it every other or every third day. Funny...they want you to take daily, but I find its ok to delay it.

My poor ds also needs to. Dh was against daily mess until the ped said "it's so benign "

i said other, I consider vitamins pills ( they go on patient's medication lists because they do have some side effects) so i take 3 a day.

I am on birth control for medical reasons, medicine for high cholesterol, and Claratin everyday!!! It seems to be I add a new pill every year or so... I have had high cholesterol since my late 20's. Tried diet to control it, but it runs in the family so that didn't work.. My husband takes about 12 pills a day.. If he skips any of the major ones, he will end up in the hospital..

I take a prenatal pill daily.

I used to take a pepcid AC pill everyday while pregnant. I had prior heartburn issues that seriously magnified when I was pregnant.

I don't take any other pills unless I really need to and I do mean REALLY need to. If I have a mild headache or the like.. I just suck it up and deal with it.

My husband on the other hand is the opposite... one small pain (any kind) he runs to a bottle of pills of some sort. I prefer to let my body just deal with it naturally.

I too only take birth control.

While I understand many are medically necessary, I think sometimes doctors and/or patients overdo the amout they are on.

I also know firsthand of SEVERAL people who are replacing another addicition with pain meds.

I rarely take any medicine. If I have a killer headache, I will take advil and if I am coughing a lot around bedtime, I will take some cold medicine (more for my DH's benefit than my own - I never took cold medicine before him).

only when there's a problem, which is rare. I however, take vitamins every day.

Thyroid meds daily. I rarely take anything else.

i don't take anything but vitamins and fiber pills. I try to never take antibiotics perhaps once a year if i must because of infections (i had to take biotics twice this year because if a blood infection and then animal bite.) I am suspicious of birth control pills and even though my dr. would like to put me on it I decline. I rather suffer with my cramps and vomiting then mess with my natural body functions (no offense to those who take them)

My parents however are on like 3-6 pills daily for blood pressure, gout, cholesterol and other things that i am not sure of.

2 allergy pills a day - I have severe allergies.

Used to be 3, because I was taking birth contro. I stopped the BC when it almost killed me. After that episode I had to take many more pills (blood thinners, etc) but now I'm back down to just allergy pills.

On rare occasions, I'll take a Tylenol. If I am sick, I'll take whatever the doc prescribed, but that's like once every 2 years or so.

I hate taking meds. Right now, I am on pre-natal vitamins, but not really "medication".
I don't like taking pain-killers or other meds. Unless I REALLY need it, I would rather suck up a little pain than take something. I don't know why I am like that.

Until recently, it was only as needed, but now I take two allergy/asthma medications and IF-related meds daily.

I take one pill everyday. I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis so I will have to take synthroid everyday for the rest of my life. I also have daily chronic migraine so I frequently take medication to treat the headaches.
