Meal Support for Leighla (Lauren)...UPDATED - We need help for this weekend...who's in???? LOOK at Lastchance1222's post on this thread please!!!
We need folks to drop off meals in Holbrook tomorrow morning that will be transported to Lauren in NJ. We need 4 or 5 days of meals that can be frozen.
Who's in???
ETA: I will be coordinating meal support for the next month, so IF you are OOS, or far away I will be updating and needing your help in the coming weeks.
Also, Organic direct organic direct delivers organic and micro biotic meals. They need organic micro biotic stuff for her DH as he goes through treatments (in the next few weeks).
If anyone has experience making micro biotic meals or organic, vegan, stuff please let us know ON THIS THREAD.
I am sorry I have not been able to answer all of the FMs about this. Please post on this thread so Luv2sun, Lastchance1222 can see it as well as we are all planning/coordinating. THANK YOU ALL FOR HELPING!!!!! YOU ARE ALL AMAZING WOMEN!!!  
UPDATE: Ok, so we are doing meal drop off for this weekend in Holbrook.
I am waiting for Ron to get back to us or for someone who knows Lauren IRL and can get an address to us to send these GC to. The GC are a great idea moving forward. I would imagine Organic Direct, Whole Foods, Merry maids and their day care would be great ideas as well. We are just waiting for Ron or someone to get us her address. Her DH is in surgery for the port today, so she has her hands full.
I am going on vacation, so please coordinate with Lastchance1222 and Luv2sun over the weekend. i will take it over after Tuesday and coordinates GC and meals moving forward.
I also FMed Ron about an LIF sponsored fund raiser (similar to what they did for DebG & Janet) and about getting her address to send the GC to.
So right now we send 4 or 5 frozen meals to Holbrook to cover them for the next few days and wait for word from Ron.
In the meantime you can buy a GC (to organic direct, merry maid, daycare) and have it shipped to your home and them when we coordinate where all the GC are going, I will let all of you know so you can send them out.
thank you all for wanting to contribute and help. right now, we are waiting on some much needed info.
UPDATED AGAIN: I just found out the address....I am FMing it to lastchance1222 and she will send it out to Lauren. All of you can send all GC to lastchance1222 and she will get them to Lauren!!!

I will be dropping off Spirulina shakes and heath food for Scott. I am not sure he will be able to eat much as of yet...
we need a weeks worth and some food for logan---then Sept 13th luvsun27 will be back in the area for morepick-ups...
anyone who does not want to cook check out that website...its vimp chemo patients to not overload on pesticides and eat organic...if u cannot cook u can buy it and have iti shipped!
which i will do Sept 13th week.
If we get alot of names is it ok if we split up guys up?
we do not know how much time will be at home or the hospital---or how bug their freezer is...
so who is in for a cram cooking session?

I'm not trying to be the naysayer but I know if someone dropped off 4 frozen meals & they were driven to NJ (assuming there is a cooler involved), I wouldn't have room in my freezer.

Luv2sun already OKed it with her. Luv2sun has been communicating via email with her. I had the same exact concern.

thats why only a few meals...and the best bet is the organic site where she can order what she needs when she needs it...
We do not know when he will be in the hospital when not...and like Barbara said who knows what room she has...

Would it be useful / helpful to give a gift certificate for Organic Direct? That way she could use in the future for what she needs??
ETA = Oops, didn't see above post, sorry! But I'd like to know if she's okay with the website to also purchase a gc...

I was macrobiotic for 2 years. I will see if I can find my old cook book & whip some things up.
Also, can we get some specifics on what Logan is eating, what size diapers he is in etc, so we can help her with her regular shopping to?

I emailed Lauren about maybe donating towards Logan's daycare as a quick solution. She's obviously going to need daycare as a constant & that may ease her finances versus having hundreds of dollars of gift certificates to a grocery store.
Glad someone is coordinating this with her!

I was thinking also maybe we can get Merry Maids in there to help her with the cleaning. Maybe they have gift certificates or something like that. I know having a clean house while going through treatment is very important too.

I spoke to Lauren about this already this morning. She said, for now, she is fine with daycare and finances, and would appreciate food. This is an excerpt from her email:
Logan likes most things. Pastas, chicken, pizza, etc. Either way is finewith me. I don't know any restaurants here yet though. We usually eat at6. Anything that can be frozen and popped in the oven or microwave isgreat. Like super suppers type stuff.
Lisa (lbelle821) has said she will get together a list of local restaurants, since she knows the area that Lauren is in (Lauren just moved there 5 days ago)!
I also sent Lauren an email asking her about the organic website and if she is ok with people sending her gift cards...haven't heard anything back yet, but I will keep you posted when I do.
Thanks again to everyone who is trying/willing to help. I'm sure she will need more of this in the next couple of weeks

Well, most of you already know my situation...I'm in no position financially to donate food or money....BUT, I live very nearby and being that I'm unemployed right now, I would like to donate my TIME to help cook some of these meals at her home, or just run errands for whatever she may need.
