Looking for a summer vacation spot with my 3 year old

DH and I are looking to plan our summer vacation with DD. I am at a loss about where to go. We did Lake George last year and it was OK, but we'd like something new.

We would like:
- place with a pool/lake
- good restaurants
- not super-crazy-touristy (like Lake George)
- don't really care about amusement parks/attractions (we just want to veg out for a week, swim etc.)
- within a 4 hour drive of where we live (Putnam County) so I guess 5 hours from Nassau/W. Suffolk.
- not opposed to "roughing it" a bit- cabins, etc. are fine.

Does such a place exist? Chat Icon

Montauk?

It is busy, but not touristy. Plus you can visit with MEEEEEEEE and we can plan a socialist revolution (I kid, I kid)

Try the Poconos (ie: Split Rock resort)

They have units that are cabin-ish, yet have all the amenities you will need for cooking, etc.

Only 2-3 hours drive

Has things to do in the area, but it's not overly tourist-y

We loved Ocean City!!! DD had a blast. We went to beach and pool in the day. Had lunch outside at our hotel's bar. Night we did the boardwalk and rides, and also went to a few other amusement parks for her. We really had th ebest time ever, very low key.

We were just in Boston for the weekend and I think it's a great vacation spot for a few days! It's such a nice city and there is so much to do:

new england aquarium
boston duck tours
faneuil hall
tax free shopping!

The marriott in cambridge is nice, my parents have stayed there.
