Kind of a spin off to "Lurkers"
Do all of you think that if you post on here while you are at work and the IT department tracks the sites you are on, that they can actually go in and read your posts and what you replied to?
Does anyone think that their bosses may lurk on here? That kinda worries me. I mean I have not posted anything that personal about my self on here.. except for once with a major problem I was having (which turned out to be NOT what I thought it was) but I needed you ladies at the time and quickly edited "that" post as I know we ALL do here from time to time.

I don't care if it's your real pic, but I'll answer honestly. My former boss lives on LI, and I ALWAYS thought it was a possibility that she lurked here...AND she was the manager of the IT dept. You can't tell my name from my screenname, and I'm careful what I post. If it's personal, I've been gone from my last job for over a year, but if I still worked there, yes, I'd be a bit paranoid.

I work in IT, the answer is yes, they can. Do they? I don't know about your company's IT department but we certainly don't have the time or the man power to spy on everyone's internet activity. However, if someone calls attention to themselves and a boss requests it, most (if not all) can be retrieved in some way. It has happened at my job and usually what causes the request for snooping, believe it or not, is personal vendettas and misbehaving in other areas of work.

I never knew about LIW until I stumbled on here... It would have been so useful when planning my wedding 4 years ago!

That makes a lot of sense about the request for snooping. Then I myself don't think I have anything to worry about :) Well, I sure hope not

I eat lunch everyday with a guy in IT- and he let us know that they don't have the time or manpower to spy
and I don't work in NY- so I am not sure anyone lurks- and I don't care

Oh IT guy is such a nerd boy that I can see him doing it. He does everything but get our programs to work properly. As for the boss, there is no way. He's way too busy.

When I was planning my wedding, I was banned from LIW and formally reprimanded for spending too much time on LIW  Our IT guy certainly took notice

I work for a small company and my boss caught me a "couple" time on LIF...then blocked it.
I don't think he could read my replies to the posts...there's too many
And, I figured a way around it, but don't spend much time on here at work anymore.

They can definitely track it, along with IMs, etc. They don't track outside of email. They have many more things to worry about.
I know they don't because I'm in HR & had a situation where I needed to get information for an employee & our IT department didn't track it.
If someone is asking for me to get the info tracked, they're looking for an easy way out on firing them
Our employees are often at client sites. Not only do some of them track EVERYTHING, but will remove our employee from the premises if found using the internet for personal reasons.
