Kim Richards has spoken out after her pit bull Kingsley bit her niece, Kyle Richards' 18-year-old daughter Alexia, on Saturday, Nov. 1.

"First off let me start by saying the safety and welfare of my family means the world to me," Kim, 50, noted in a statement on Thursday, Nov. 6. "I love Alexia like she is my own child and have been in constant contact with my sister Kyle and niece Alexia."
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star detailed what led up to the attack, explaining that she warned Alexia that her bedroom -- where Kingsley was resting -- was off limits.

"Alexia has been away from college for months and hasn't seen Kingsley in a long time. Kingsley is used to the home being full of children and since the kids have gone away, the house has become quiet," Kim continued. "While the two have been very close and friendly in the past, the dog has become very protective of me in the meantime. When guests are over Kingsley stays in my bedroom and has been given access to a special fenced-in area in my backyard. Anyone entering the house is made aware that the dog should not be bothered."

ndeed, when the Bravo star realized Alexia had been bit on her thumb, she "immediately" called her younger sister Kyle, 45, who then brought Alexia to the emergency room to make sure there was no infection.

"After the wound was cleaned and bandaged, the girls went on with their day and I stayed in contact to make sure that my niece was ok," Kim said on her publicist's site. "After she re-entered the hospital two days later, I have visited and continue to make sure that she is in good spirits."

Kim's spirits, however, are hardly good. Though she didn't clarify if she will put down Kingsley, she admits that she is mulling over options to see what the next step should be. "As many of you can relate, he is my best friend," she said. "This is a very difficult decision and time for all of us, but the safety of my family always comes first."
Kingsley's obedience problems and Kim's attempts to train him were largely documented on the last season of RHOBH.

I have a pet. I love that thing more than than anything. I love my dog.

With that said if I owned an animal that was so aggressive he had to be locked up and away from anyone when people were in the house I would think very long and hard Bout that animal being in my home.

The dog does not need to be put to sleep. But he does need to be in an environment that's good for him.

I don't care how "sweet" and kind. Pit I'll is. I will never go around one nor will I ever ever ever trust one. Ever.

Why did Alexis re-enter hospital?

She needed two separate surgeries to repair her thumb from the bite. Chat Icon

Yeah, I read she had to have another one to drain it so it wouldn't get infected.

Kim Richards Speaks Out After Pit Bull Bites Kyle Richards' Daughter Alexia: I Said

It is not Kingsley's fault he has been failed by his "owner". It is Kim RIchard's fault. She should not own a pit bull, she shouldn't even own a Chia Pet. Everyone always wants to blame the dog for things that happen, and the dog is the one that suffers. But it is the owners lack of attention, lack of intelligence, and lack of common sense that causes situations to happen.

Kingsley needs to be rehomed and given the proper training and social skills. And I know there are rescues out there who would take him. You can not say that dogs were born bad, the Michael Vick fighting dogs who were born to fight made excellent pets. There have been pit bulls who have been subject to horrible abuse and neglect still love and live happy lives. Some pit bull owners get them for all the wrong reasons and the breed as a whole suffers. Even a Dachshund (wiener dog) had killed someone. It chewed off the legs of a new born baby while the mother was passed out in a bed. And a lab killed a baby sitting in a swing. Any dog can attack, and any dog can kill. Unfortunately pit bulls get the brunt of the negative attention.

The American Humane Association Hero Dog of the year for both 2013 and 2014 were both pit bulls. And there are countless stories of pit bulls saving lives and even sacrificing their own life to save their owners. People need to educate themselves on pit bulls and not live in such fear of them just because they don't know a thing about them. Go to a shelter and pet one and see how much love they give you. I drove for 8 hours to adopt a blind and deaf pit bull who was found wondering a highway. He is the bravest, happy, and loving dog I ever had the pleasure of knowing. And I sleep in bed with him and two others and I would not have it any other way.

People need to see how amazing these dogs are, and how much abuse they suffer at the hands of humans. Look up Kiya, also known as Puppy Doe and see the evil a person can do. Or the man in Florida who was caught raping an emaciated 8 month old pit bull puppy. London was repeatedly smashed into the floor at three months old for chewing on a couch and his owners never took him to get help for almost 4 months. Both his front lets were so damaged they had to be amputated. Or Louis who was hung from a fence, beat with a shovel, then set on fire. He tried to chew off his own paw to try and get free. Trooper was drug behind a truck for two miles by a mad ex-wife to get revenge on her husband. Patrick was starved and neglected then thrown down a garbage shoot and left to die. And there are countless other stories I could tell. It's not the breed.

People buy into this fear about them without having any firsthand interaction/relationship with this loving breed...decades ago it was Rotties, Dobermans, Sheperds. I'm not going to go back and forth about it. I just wish people would do research or interact with them. When you hear stories on the news, look into the owners. You will not read about a truly good owner/good home that produced a dangerous pit. Nothing I say will stop people from buying into this stereotype though...and it just breaks my heart for these dogs.Chat Icon

Beautifully said. I grew up around pit bulls & shepards and would happily adopt either breed when my DH & I move into a house. My cousin's pit was the sweetest dog you would ever meet; he used to let my little cousin climb all over him and pull on him, and he wouldn't so much as bat an eye. In my 29 years of being around dogs, the only ones I've seen being nasty are the ones who have owners that shouldn't have pets. People need to stop blaming the dog and start blaming the owner for not properly bringing up the dog. This poor breed has so many strikes against it because of horrible PEOPLE who get them for all the wrong reasons.

I was bitten by a dog once, and it wasn't any type of big breed dog - it was a little white terrier. I don't think all terriers are bad dogs or that they are a bad breed because of this experience. People need to look at things case by case instead of generalizing.

I will amend my post slightly. What I should have said is that Kim can't handle the dog and should not have him. He should be re-homed to someone who can handle him. I agree that it's not the dogs fault. It's her fault period. And that she does not even recognize what a f uck up dog owner she is.

And I will stand behind *my* opinion about Pit Bulls. And *my*experience.

I will never ever EVER trust a Pit Bull and will avoid them period. I won't ever be around them nor want to. Yes, I know there are people like you you above PP's. I KnOW that these animals can be sweet and loving (they are sweet and loving). I know they have a bad rap.

However there is nothing anyone will tell me that will change my opinion. I know of at least 5 stories of people who have these animals as pets, and they attacked someone for no reason. It was *something* that set the dog off. Whatever that something was. And the damage that was caused by these animal bites was devastating.

So with deep respect to your thoughts I will never ever trust a pit bull and will avoid them at all costs.
