Do you post a list of general responsibilities for you kids? Not chores, but just things they should be responsible for day in and day out.
I am trying to write one. Here's what I have:

1. teeth and pj's every night without whining or screaming.
2. cleaning up toys after using
3. clearing your plate after every meal of snack
4. being respecful to each other in the family.

Do you have any others? I am trying to get some order in the house. I have 3 and 7 year old boys. Any tips would be appreciated. THanks

Re: Kids responsibilities

If I posted a list like that it would just be ignored so, no.
My DD isn't really one to follow a list though

My 2 year olds are responsible for taking their shoes off and putting them on the bench when they walk in, take off their jackets if they have one, cleaning up their toys and setting the table. Oh and helping out laundry in the dryer

Kids responsibilities

My kids all have daily expectations.

DS 8- packs his own school lunches each night for the next day, water the plants
DS 6- make sure the bathroom sink is wiped down & clean every morning and night after everyone is done washing up & brushing teeth
twin DD's 4- keep their rooms & the playroom neat, get the mail
DD 3 in June- make sure the dogs bowl is full

These aren't considered chores in my house, just part of being in our family. Chores are separate. They also all have to sit at the dinner table with us as a family each night until everyone is done eating, clear their own places, and rinse plates in the sink.

For general every day, they are expected to:
Brush teeth
Brush hair
Wash face
Clean up their breakfast
Put dirty clothes in the hamper
Clean any toys that migrated out of the playroom
I'd like to say make beds but that doesn't get done daily.

Sometimes on weekends i'll give them a paper checklist of everything they need to do before we go somewhere. It's usually their regular morning stuff plus make their beds and clean the playroom so I can vacuum it quickly.

my boys turn everything into a "battle" or wrestling or whatever... so i don't trust them with too much!! HAHAHA i'm also not great about following a list and keeping up with assigning them chores and who did which chores last and all that stuff.
So its more just if something needs to get done, i'll ask them to do it. not really anything "assigned". like they'll clear their plates after they eat. they'll put away their laundry after i fold it and leave it on their beds for them. they help me empty the dishwasher. they hang up their backpacks/ jackets and put their shoes in the basket by the door. and just generally putting things away when they're done.

I guess these can be considered daily chores

make their beds
feed pets/make sure the dog has water
walk dog
make sure fridge is stocked with water bottles and cans
fold laundry
take out garbage
bring in the mail
unload dishwasher
clearing the dinner table and wiping it down after dinner
older ones are responsible for taking the trash and recycle to the curb on those days.

Re: Kids responsibilities

I need to get my son a list because he's so disorganized and I have to remind him constantly. I feel like a Parrot. He is 10:

*Walk dogs
*pick up the lil dogs poo around the house because he's a little shit
*Wash his dish
*Get his dirty uniform and clothes for me to wash
*Put his clothes away
*Set the table when we eat like humans
*Clear the table
*Put the dogs away in garage before we leave
*make his lunch
*make his breakfast on the weekdays

Re: Kids responsibilities

I have an 11 year old and a 7 year old.

They both equally chip in with chores, cleaning up after yourselves, clearing your own dinner plate, brushing teeth and schoolwork do not count....that's just expected of you, period.

They also:
*Work together to clean their bathroom (toilet and tub included).
*My daughter dusts the downstairs and my son vacuums the downstairs.
*My son also has to take the garbage pails in and out and clean out the pool skimmers every other day when the pool is open.
*My daughter also has to water the flower pots during the nice weather season.
*They both put their laundry away.
*They both have to take out the dog and feed her
*Sometimes, my DH and I make them clean up dinner/kitchen/dishes after we eat if we dont feel like it.

They receive a weekly allowance for the above chores. They both know they are not to watch TV, go on youtube, no video games until HW and any above applicable chores for that day are completed.
