Ketchup spinoff...does it bother you when you take the time to cook (and hopefully season)

a meal and someone pours ketchup all over it?!

this drives me NUTS. without even tasting it to see if it suked FIRST.

I am not a ketchup fan. it's like a substitute for flavor and I like to taste my food...not a big ol' plate full of ketchup. I rarely even put it on fries. My sister on the other hand, eats JUST ketchup. she loves it.

but she also can't cook, so there may be something to that....

Re: Ketchup spinoff...does it bother you when you take the time to cook (and hopefully season)

I like Ketchup but do not pour it all over. If I have it, its a little on the side.
I do take the time to cook and season, and I always put out some sort or sauce (BBQ, honey mustard, peter luger) and DH NEVER uses it! Chat Icon
He appreciates the flavor that I work so hard on achieving!!Chat Icon

BTW: I support that whole theory on not being able to cook. May be trying to hide something with all that ketchup!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I honestly don't care what anyone else does with their food.
I like salt, so yes, I will salt it before tasting. Just like I add parmesan cheese to my pasta before tasting.

Re: Ketchup spinoff...does it bother you when you take the time to cook (and hopefully season)

Geeze, I never even think about this stuff. Some people like their food with condiments and have a habit or putting that on before they eat it.

I know plenty of people who will add salt / pepper / BBQ sauce / ketchup / etc. to something before tasting it. I don't see anything wrong with that. They happen to like whatever it is you're serving with that condiment - it's not an insult to your cooking at all.

I don't know too many people who taste a hamburger and then decide if they want ketchup on it... JMHO.

My DH will do this Hot Sauce. He will pour it all over something that I spent a lot of time seasoning and cooking Chat Icon It definitely bothers me.

Re: Ketchup spinoff...does it bother you when you take the time to cook (and hopefully season)

I am far too cocky to believe that they do it b/c something is wrong with my food...it's that they do it out of habit, which is WORSE I think.

it's so boring. why do you want your potatoes/meat/bread to taste like each other. for that matter but it in a blender!

I hate it more when you give someone a plate of food that you took ages to cook and they put SALT on it before even tasting it. Its the ultimate insult to a chef. My father in law even puts salt on chinese food. Insane.

Re: Ketchup spinoff...does it bother you when you take the time to cook (and hopefully season)

I love ketchup.I eat it alone and I pour it all over fries or turkey burger or plain grilled chicken. Not other foods.

I do get insulted when the man pours hot sauce all what I've cooked before tasting it. Chat Icon
One time I said, "Just take a bite first, then add the sauce." He learned that he didn't need it. Chat Icon

Re: Ketchup spinoff...does it bother you when you take the time to cook (and hopefully season)

My father POURS salt all over everything. That drives me nuts.

Putting ketchup on a burger before you eat it is different. You know you like it that way. YOu aren't trying to drown out the taste of the burger.
