Jury Duty Notice

I got a questionaire from Suffolk County for Jury Duty - I dont have it its just to find out if IM eligible. Its a final notice because Ive never responded (they got sent to my moms house in my old name and I guess my mom didnt think it was important enough to give to me ). They want me to go to Islip and fill out the questionaire in front of the clerk... I have a 6 month old and a 3 year old and I am their caregiver during the day. I can not go on jury duty because it would not be cool with the kids. Anyone know how I can get out of driving to Islip (Im in Riverhead) and how I can get out of it all together?

the kids excuse you from jury duty, but from just filling out the questionaire....I think you may be stuck. Can they mail it to you at your current address???

idont know. i have the "final notice" one here. Can I just fill it out & send it in with a note saying I have 2 small children in my care which I dont think a judge wants me to bring to court to nurse him when he is hungry

I think my friend called in about not serving while she was about to deliver, but I am not sure if it was Suffolk County or the district court. I don't think having kids guarantees you won't have to serve, but there is a good chance they will excuse you.

I would call, tell them you got this final notice and never received a first notice. Tell them you were married and they must have been sending to your old address. Tell them you have two small children and ask if they can just send you a new questionaire to your current address as it is very difficult to trek all the way to islip with two very small children. Can't hurt to try.

They didnt put a phone number on the letter
