June 25th & 26th - nyc publics schools
I'm sure I can google this but I'm just THAT lazy.
Is it true June 25 & 26th were unused snow days and the kid don't have school? (27th being last day... 1/2 day)

It was an SBO. Each school got a chance to vote on whether they wanted class days or professional development on the 25th and 26th. Some schools will not have students in attendance. Mine is one of them that voted to have pd days. I teach high school so the kids coming back after regents was silly.

We have PD and no kids. We are an elementary school in queens who took an SBO vote on this. Your chapter leader was supposed to inform the staff weeks go and the take an SBO vote on this. If that didn't happen for you I would be livid! Those last days are tough and I would rather it in PD!

It was voted on school-by-school so you may need to give a call to find out for sure.
I also read somewhere that kids CAN be sent to school if the situation poses a childcare issue. Since I'm resiging for next year I've steeled myself to be the teacher who gets to hang out with the kids who show up.

We never voted , was just told by our UFT rep that our principal said SHE didn't want to do that and leave parents in a bind. I'm now pissed that we didn't vote on it as a school.

We did an SBO vote on this. Those two days students will not be in of course teachers will attendance but

My school voted for it to be two PD days... I voted against... as did the majority of MS teachers (I work in a K-8).
Our PD days suck... curriculum mapping here I come.... oh and tomorrow too for Brooklyn/Queens Day... JOY.

My school didnt vote, just no classes. I'm in a high school and that's after regents. I dont think the kids would come in. One of those days is graduation anyway.
