it's been a long time coming....Updated w night 2 of CIO!
i've been postponing CIO forever and DH and I just decided tonight is going to be day 1 of it!! aaaaaaaaack! wish me luck please!!
i initially wanted to do it when she was 5 months old...but we had a 2 week trip planned when she turned 6 months old, so instead of doing all that work and then doing it over again, i just decided to wait til she turned 6 months. then 6 months came and she got sick. then she started to learn to pull herself up and would smash her face against the crib rails. now that we have super padding on the rails so she won't smack her face, we've decided it's now or never!!
i'm scared of tonight, but SO looking forward to getting this over with and hopefully seeing REALLY good results REALLY soon!!

night 1:
it went WELL!! granted after the 2nd waking i couldn't take it anymore and turned on our fan so her cries could be drowned out, but all went well!! she went to bed at 8. woke up at 9, 11, 1, and 5 and put herself back to sleep each time. let's hope for less wakings tomorrow!!! 
night 2
better than night 1! put her down to sleep at 8pm and she didn't wake up at all til 4:30am! this is where it gets crappy - she wakes up at 4:30 and DH goes in to CHECK ON HER!!  she sees him, flips out and starts waaaaailing  . i yelled at him for doing that, blamed him non stop for like 5 minutes and then had to endure hearing her cry on and off for at least an hour. argh i wanted to punch him  ! she's hoarse now from crying last night  its actually kinda cute though, she notices that her voice is all wacky so she tries to scream but she sounds like Tarzan. anyways, after that hour or so that she was crying on and off, she went back down and didn't wake up til 8am :) hope tonight is the grand finale!

Good luck! The end result is so worth it. Now the second I put DS down...he starts rubbing his hair to go to sleep. he knows it's bedtime when you put him in his crib!

and I think its better to do it now before DC is trying to stand. I waited too long (8.5 months) b/c I tried it and he was at this point but still wobbly on his feet. I had to wait a few more weeks b/c he would pull himself up and fall face first against the crib b/c he was not yet stable.

Let us know how it went!!!! I had to wait for my hubby to go away for a week, everytime we tried it he broke down, couldn't listen to his baby cry In 4 nights I had it sorted. Men are wimps
