Is there anything a Godfather "typically" should get his Godchild?
I am not sure, does anyone have any idea if the Godfather ideally buys their Godchild something specific (such as a cross, etc)?

Us too. Also we did a child sized cross, my DS will get a bigger one either for communion or confirmation

We bought DH's godson a cross. I just asked his mom (sil) if she knew if the godmother or anyone else was doing it because we don't really have family traditions like that.

In my family it is typically the cross. However with my DD, she was wearing my grandmother's gown (same as my mom, aunts, me and my sister) so her godmother brought the cross and her godfather purchased her a children's bible.
