injured stray kitten and nobody to take it
My bf found a kitten, probably about 6 weeks old rolling around in the street yesterday. Something is wrong with its leg, if I had to guess broken or dislocated. We fed it and it has a good appetite. I called every vet, shelter, and rescue, no one will take it! We have no money to bring it to the vet ourselves. We already have 4 dogs and a cat that costs us a fortune. What do we so with it? At this point our only option is to bring it to the emergency vet to be put to sleep but we wanna give it a chance. It's also not very friendly so I feel like no matter what any place will put it down. We are in coram. Tia

Contact Steve at The Scratching Pad There is an email link on his site.
He took in the subway kitties, had made housecalls to try to capture feral cats on Long Island, and fosters animals.
He actually took in another cat he found on the street in Brooklyn, who also had a problem leg. He took the kitty to the vet for a cast and now she's doing very well. (I actually donated some to help for the vet/food bills.)
Barb goes the vet for a cast.

He will have some advice. I just got a stray sick kitten into a great rescue. I had to email 11 rescues and send pics. Pics are EVERYTHING in rescue. They tug at the heart & then I finally got someone to take her. Even if you have to transport a half hour or so away, it'll be so worth it. Thank you for trying to help this cat. Your it's only hope. It will be friendly once it's not in so much pain. If you keep getting no after no, show up with the cat and I don't see how they could say know once they SEE it. Don't give up and please don't put it to sleep. You're doing a great thing! Don't give up. :)

Did you call Save a Pet on 112 in Port Jeff Station? Petsmart on 112 in PJS has rescued cats for adoption through A Wing and a Prayer, so I would call them for rescue.

If called most of these places n will call the ones I haven't. Everyone says no I think cuz of its leg, no one wants the burden. We are going on 3 days now, I don't know what to do.

We were told that if it was a dog it wouldn't be a problem but a cat no one cares, they look at them as a squirrel cuz they live on their own.

Def call Save A Pet. If you have a problem let me know my cousin is very involved with them and helps many stray cats. She is pretty close with them. She may even take it from you. Please let me know. Also my DH has in at Selden Emergency Animal hospital since he was a former vet tech there.

North Shore told you that? Some animal rescue group they are.
Save a Pet sounds like a good group. They are in Port Jeff. I'll make a donation if they take your kitten. Their number is: 631-473-6333.
From their web page:
"Twenty-eight kittens were rescued from certain death by Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center, Inc., including one with a broken leg.
Little Milly was literally plucked from the euthanasia table and saved in the nick of time, but her broken limb will require medical attention. All 27 other kittens will also need help with their medical costs and care, until Save-A-Pet can find them suitable homes."
