INFO on Holbrook, the town and Sanchem, the school district
Any info. Looking into Holbrook as a place to live, but heard the the Sanchem school district is on some not so good list.
Any info?

It's Sachem. It's very large--one of the largest on LI, but I think generally it's pretty middle of the road when it comes to most rankings. Their sports teams are excellent and they have an amazing special ed program that draws students from other districts.

I grew up in Holbrook and still live here. I went to Sachem as does my dd and ds next year.
While I know we are not ranked the "best" school I would highly recommend the district.

I've heard nothing but good things about both Holbrook and Sachem SD. Holbrook seems to be a growing area for young families, I've met a lot of families at work that live in Holbrook that have small children.

We moved to Holbrook last year and have two kids in the schools. The schools are comparable to the rest of the island. I have no complaints with the schools or the town. We love it here.

My grandfather lived in holbrook for years, it's a great area, and I didn't live in holbrook, but we lived in the Sachem district, the schools are pretty good.. I think they just had some growing pains!

we have lived there for almost 6 years and we LOVE the area!
We do not have kids and willnot take advantage of the school district but have heard nothing but good things about it.
Let us know if you find an area that you are interested in. One of us on here might be able to help you.

Holbrook is a nice town. I grew up in Holtsville and went to Sachem and had a great experience. While the district has undergone a lot of changes in recent years, it still has a good reputation.
