I will rephrase the shot and vaccine in simple terms. Maybe it just makes sense to me.

A vaccine is a shot given. Correct. A shot can also be given for other things.

You get a shot for insulin. People take shots when doing drugs.

These shots are not one or 2 and done. You don’t say I am taken my insulin vaccine today.

Most vaccines we are all familiar with, like polio, mumps, chicken pox and ones given once or twice that prevents us to ever get sick from these things.

The Covid shot does not last and that is one thing they have established. It still will be like the flu shot, which we call a shot.

Maybe it is all technical terms but I think we all grew up knowing what a vaccine is and knowing if we got it, it would prevent us from having any of these illnesses that plagued many years ago. That is why most of us give our children vaccines at the time we are told by doctors.

Are you really trying to compare a polio vaccine to someone taking insulin?? And you want people to take you seriously?

Of course an insulin injection is not called a vaccine. You are not injecting yourself with insulin in order to create antibodies against an illness. Same with a cortisone injection. Not a vaccine.

Even if you have to take something multiple times, if it is intended to create antibodies against a disease, it is still a vaccine.

It was taken from a comparison straight from this board.

What, you didn't know that shots and vaccines are two different things? Chat Icon
I also really have to wonder WHY many people post links to new research that is saying the vaccine lasts at least 6 months, but most likely even longer, AND prevents 90% of transmission. Not prevention of symptomatic illness. Prevention of TRANSMISSION. Yet, that is always followed with, "but nobody knows if it prevents transmission". Actually, now they do. It's almost like people refuse to be educated because they would rather there be no proof of it working because they are so against it. It's weird.

Couldn't agree more. The internet has been full of ever increasing weirdness. People have all kinds of weird agendas that others may know nothing about. And all people have struggles that noone knows about, many of whose have been made much worse over the past year.
The vaccine was just made available to most of us, and it has been a game changer already. It has been available to our older and compromised friends and family for awhile now, though, and when I think of all that is open, planned, and possible that was not before....it's staggering and a reason to be very happy.

ITA with you both.

What people who don't wish to get the vaccine should say is, "I am uncomfortable with a vaccine and therefore I won't take it". That is all that needs to be said. But instead, they spend WAY too much time trying to drive a false narrative about the safety and efficacy of a virus that has already been proven to work. Whether it works for 6 months, one year, or longer it still works. Anyone who thinks that this VACCINE isn't a game changer for this country and others going forward is simply being willfully ignorant to the facts.

Just do YOU. Don't take the vaccine if you don't want but listening to some people go on and on and on about how the vaccine doesn't work (when it does) and with NO facts to back up that claim is really getting exhausting. How many threads do we need about the EXACT SAME topic? Do anti-vaxxers think they will change anyone's mind? The MAJORITY of people in this country are sick and tired of living in "pandemic mode", if we have to get a vaccine every 6 months or every year then so be it. Having a normal life back is worth it.

Unfortunately, there is a “narrative” on both sides. And, not sure if you realize it but you are doing the EXACT same thing you are preaching against! Do “YOU”. Just say “I am comfortable with the vaccine and that is why I am taking it”. Follow your own advice. Your post is also filled with your own narrative and rhetoric .

I don't care if one gets the vaccine or not, I'm just tired of the same one or two people CONSTANTLY telling everyone day after day that they won't get it. Who cares???? Do you, move on. The rest of us don't need to hear about it EVERY day.

Ditto, if you truly don’t care and it annoys you, keep scrolling and move on.

You really have no idea what you're talking about.

You're a swirling tornado of misinformation.

Instead, how about educating then, instead of attacking.
You are welcome to add your input and rebuttal to what I have explained above.

You think a shot and vaccine are two different things. I think you are the one who needs to go educate yourself.

You've yet to post a single fact to back up ANY of your anti-vaccine claims and you start thread after thread peddling the same misinformation. It's getting old. Don't take your vaccine if you don't want and move on with your life. Your incessant and unrelenting need to keep discussing it on here in order to convince people they are wrong for wanting to be vaccinated is both desperate and pathetic at this point.

So you have basically nothing to add. Understood.

I can’t move on at the moment when I don’t know if I will be forced to take something I prefer not to at this time.

You do you is correct, but don’t go around calling others who do something differently selfish and uneducated.

Whatever, VB. Chat Icon Chat Icon

You've have been carrying on yet again for TWO pages on what is likely the 40th thread you have started about the vaccine and you STILL have not provided ANY facts to back up your claims. You continue to say the same exact thing over and over again. We ALL get it, you don't want the vaccine..............you can stop telling us all now.

You. Are. A. Broken. Record.

She reminds me of Trump calling it the China Virus. I have actually changed my opinion on VB, while I won't rule out that I still think that it is possible that she has psychotic tendencies, I'm realizing in her latest incarnation as Windy that she is just dumb. I doubt she has gone past 6th grade. We need to take pity on her. People cannot help being born with limited brain capacity. She is intellectually challenged. It is not even fair to engage with her, because we are taking advantage of her very limited intellectual capacities. I'm actually now feeling great compassion for her, because she can't help that she can't learn.

Sad that some just continue to be mean and nasty to others. I am sorry you are so unhappy that you can’t just scroll by something and move along but find the need to attack and be a bully.

I guess the people who think I am whining just ignore the posts like I do many others. That’s how the internet works. If something annoys you, you have a choice to post or walk away.

Oh I am confident in my decisions and this is just one of them.

I also think this is a personal decision and doesn’t need to be plastered all over social media when someone does decide to get it. If and when I choose to get it for whatever reason, I don’t plan to tell anyone as it really is just my business.
Don’t need the reassurance and support of strangers to tell me I did the right thing.

It's weird.

They have said over and over that you can still get sick with the virus with the vaccine just like you can, and many do get sick with the flu.
I don’t think people are less educated or rather have proof it doesn’t work but the fact it is so new for this virus that they really don’t know 100% if it will eliminate the virus and how sick you can still get.
There is nothing wrong with asking questions in life about things, especially new things.

Reduces 90% of TRANSMISSION means it is 90% effective as preventing people from getting COVID- asymptomatically or otherwise. The flu vaccine is 40-60% effective depending on the year. I am not sure you know this, but 90% is higher than 60%. Your inability to comprehend real world facts is alarming.
On another note, my children's school is remote the week following spring break because many people feel they can go out and do whatever they want, and now many children are bringing COVID into the building. This latest wave is being fueled by children. Children are getting COVID at birthday parties, on vacation, at sporting events, etc. And that affects my children. Even though we do everything right, my child still got COVID, and the mother who's child gave it to her admitted that her child probably got it because she hosted an unmasked playdate in her backyard with 10 other children. 5 kids from that get together wound up sick. The selfishness of some people is so vile and disgusting.

May I ask if your child was unmasked around this child? How would they get it if they were wearing a mask or are we now saying masks don’t work?

Yes, my child was masked. The only person who thinks masks are all or nothing is you. Masks are not 100%, NOTHING is.
I don't know so I don't know how you are IRL. But on here you present yourself as a dimly lit bulb. You come across as an anti mask, anti vaxxer right wing nut job who thinks COVID is a hoax and only affects obese people and smokers. It is actually extremely concerning how uneducated you come across on here. You are so desperate to never have to ever be inconvenienced and never to have to do anything for anyone but yourself. Guess what? Don't wear a mask, I don't care. But if you get COVID and are drowning in your own lungs, and there are no ventilators for you, I will not feel bad for you.

Not surprised that you have an image of people online that you don’t even know. Not an anti vaxxer, not anti mask wearer and not stupid.

Honestly it shows that many people are getting Covid who were masks so what does that tell you? Maybe the masks increases your chances of getting it because you are keeping all the germs in that mask.

Not a hoax but yes people who are obese and have diabetes can and do it get worse and that comes from a doctor, not my head. College educated by the way also but I do know many educated people have no common sense. You can’t have all of both.

I am careful, but don’t fear and have anxiety over everything. Got to pick your battles in life or you will need to be medicated.

The vaccine has not been a game changer yet.. STFU with that already. It will be but it hasn’t. Just because people are getting it and deciding they can now lives their lives against the current restrictions, does not make it a game changer. Stop lying to fit your agenda.

She is comparing the two because people were mocking her about saying that a shot and vaccine were two different things. And quite frankly I didn’t understand what she meant by that statement until she clarified it. And she is right there are shots that aren’t vaccines. She made a valid point.

Now you can debate whether you think Flu or Covid shot(vaccine) is a vaccine or regular shot like insulin, allergy etc.

I usually interchange the two and never thought of it like that before until she rephrased. Flu shot, insulin shot, MMR shot, allergy shot, heroine shot (some are vaccines and others are not).

But I can see her point between saying something is a shot or vaccine. I didn’t get it at first.

And calling it injection vs. shot because that’s what she said doesn’t make her point any less valid.

When I said “debate” that was my nice way of saying if you wanted to rip her to shreds about something, then “debate” about her not thinking flu or covid shot is a vaccine. Not because she was making a comparison to explain in a mature way what she meant by shot vs. vaccine.

Guess what buttercup, I'm not the one that the people that have run the website have repeatedly banned!!! THE PEOPLE WHO RUN THIS WEBSITE DON'T WANT YOU HERE! They have never stopped me from posting. But even though you are clearly unwanted, you still come back! What does that say about you? Exactly what I said in my post. Yes, most of us don't like you and for good reason, but it's not up to us, the owners of this website don't want you here!

What does it say about a bunch of grown a** women who feel the need to tattle tale over and over and over to get some one kicked off a site, instead of just seeing that the post was posted by someone they don't like or agree with and just moving on???? The whole thing is so silly!!!!

And the ones that supposedly run it won’t answer messages so I find it hard to believe that it is not one of the posters that are able to do this.

What’s up with calling people buttercup? Like suck it up buttercup? That condescending tone is so annoying. Get a little gangsta if you are pissed.
