If your child is on or has been on a sensory diet...?

My DC was just evaluated and i was told there was sensory disorder going on. It been so hard to handle a child with these issues. I feel like a failure at times. I was told i was gettin an OT 2x a week to the house and they were going to give me a sensory diet. If you have had one for your child can you explain what yours was and how long did it take to work. THANKS

Definitely post on the Special Needs board. There are a few moms on there who have their kids on sensory diets. Also, try FMing colesmom. She's extremely knowledgeable on the subject. Good luck and you are NOT a failure!

Depending on your childs sensory needs - sensory seeking or sensory avoiding - the sensory diet can vary.

It can involve various things as brushing, joint compression, vibration, deep proprioceptive/heavy work, certain textured foods ect....

DS has a mild case and we have a meeting with an OT next week. He's two and still on baby food b.c he doesn't like a lot of textures.
