Ours is set to 74 pretty much all the time, day & night. If I'm cleaning or really warm, I'll bump it down to like 72.

we leave it at 70. (when it gets really hot during the day, sometimes I turn it down, but just for a bit- then right back to 70!)

Re: If you have central air, please help me settle an argument!

We have a dual system.

During the day (while at work), it is set for 78 so it's not running all day when we're not home to enjoy it.

When we're home, it is set to 74/75. At night, it is set up for the same.

We have each thermostat set at 1 degree intervals. Meaning, the temp has to reach 1 degree above set temp before the first cycle of the CAC will turn on.

Our house is cool and we have no issues.

Chat Icon Holly cow you ladies like it warm!

Ours is 68 during the day but can get to 70 if i'm having a cold flash but at night 65-66 is the norm so I can be cold and snuggle into the down blanket and pillows

if it's during the day and no one is home I put it to 74, if someone is home then 72. At night it goes to 70 or 71. Otherwise it is way too hot!

Re: If you have central air, please help me settle an argument!

I keep it on 75 during the day- I work from home but my office is on the first floor and it stays prettty cool in there and then I put it on 68-70 at night. I also like it very cool when I sleep. If my DH had his way, it would be on 65 all the time.

Re: If you have central air, please help me settle an argument!

71-72 (if it's really hot we start with 687 then increase to 71-72)

Anything ABOVE 73 is a waste. What would be the point?

Re: If you have central air, please help me settle an argument!

Mine is rarely set below 75. I guess it depends on your unit, house size, etc. But the issue is more the difference in comfortable temp for you vs your DH so I'm not sure if other feedback helps settle it. My DH & I disagree on temp too but I'd rather be too cold than too hot.

75 is very comfortable in my house. Below that is very cold.

Why is it a waste?? Our house is nice and cold at 76. We have a [relatively] small house with a ton of rooms and not alot of open space.... Our house was also recently re-insulated and keeps the coolness very well. Our AC does not cycle on and off too much, which means it keeps the temp constant. And not only does it keep the house cool, it cuts down on the humidity in the house, especially in our basement.

Re: If you have central air, please help me settle an argument!

It's so funny because we just had this conversation last weekend with our friends!

My one friend has hers set to 76 and it is perfect. But when we visit our other friend they have it set to 74 and it is still warm. It may depend on how new the unit is and how much space you have to cool down.

We have actual in wall units which are COMPLETELY different temperature wise. They need to be set much lower. I'm not happy unless they are at 70 or lower! I like blankets!

During the day 74 and at night 72. We have a brand new house that is very efficient. We also have 2 units. When my mom comes over she can not believe how cold our "72" is compared to hers. My feet get too cold if I set it any lower.
