I think I sprained my ankle

I was walking down the stairs at work and like an idiot missed the last step and twisted my ankle as I came down.

It's sort of swollen so I have it elevated with ice on but it hurts.
If its still bad in the morning, I'm going to have to get it xrayed and I am praying its not broken or fractured and I don't need a cast cause that would just really, really Su c k!!!

So I'm sitting here feeling sorry for myself and waiting for DH to get home and get me something to eat and hoping the pain goes away soon...

ugh, i'm so sorry - i have felt your pain! i fell down the 3 front steps of my parents house 2 years ago and sprained my ankle (darn flip flops!)... i was out of work for 3 weeks with it, and i should have been out longer - it never healed right. definitely get xrays because you never know, but honestly a sprained ankle is worse than a broken one - a broken bone can heal a lot easier. i had to go to physical therapy and everything. hope it feels better in the morning... keep it elevated and alternate hot and cold packs!!!

Just got back from first med...the doctor said it was a bad sprain and gave me one of those funny shoes and crutches which was definitely an experience.
She told me three days and then to go back for an air cast which at least then I can wear shoes with...

I'm staying home tomorrow from work, but I am dragging my butt down to the city to my brother's office building to watch the X=mas tree lighting.

This is the worst time of year for this to happen...but at least it doesn't hurt so bad anymore.
