I keep thinking I am okay with what happened the other night

but I am so not....

I put him in the bath tonight, just to find myself crying and took him right out.

Night 3 of him sleeping in a pack and play in our room...I can't bring myself to putting him in his roomChat Icon

Leo returned back to work tonight, I threw such a tantrum before he left. I think it was my anxiety.

I know in my head that they told me it won't happen again, I just can't get the scene out of my head.

On top of it all, my father wants to send my mother down here for a week...I was just with them for over a week and totally don't feel like having anyone over.

I would feel the same way as you....

I wish I had advice, just that its normal to feel this way. Time will lessen the memory.

Not that I have experienced what you did...but I would totally feel the same way as you.

But I would probably take the offer on having your mom come stay with you for a week.

I know I would be the exact same way. What happened to you was truly traumatizing. Just focus on the fact that your DS is fine and I think in timeit will fade and get better Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I keep thinking I am okay with what happened the other night

It's tough when these things happen. I have never experience what you did, but I know that there have been instances where I have played a scene over and over and couldn't sleep.

Time will help lessen the vividness of the memory. And just talk about it. If it makes you calmer, tell Josh how much you love him. His smile should make you feel better.

I think your feelings are totally normal. It will get easier. Maybe have your Mom come for just a few days. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think I would be in the same boat as you. I replay moments when Emily's fell, gotten scrapes and bruises in my head before, I couldn't imagine the memory of what you went through.

I do agree that time will heal. Keep venting out to us when you need to Chat Icon

Re: I keep thinking I am okay with what happened the other night

awwwwwww.
I feel so bad for you..I can't imagine. I assume the febrile was from a fever???
if so...you know now to immed alternated between tylenol and motrin--it won't happen again...and if God forbid it does--you will be on top of it and deall better in the situation. I think that is also what is freaking you out--that you feel you didn't deal well.
Janice this is your baby! cut yourself a break---its not that easy to deal "well"
it will lessen with time the memory.
These are one of these bad mommy memories we get..it will be ok.
Just keep telling yourself the end result was everything worked out.
hugs.

It takes a long time to get over witnessing that....almost a year later it still enters my mind, although not as frequent. The anxiety will lift but never completely leave...your not aloneChat Icon

I can't get over it and it didn't happen to me-don't feel badly about not getting over it; I can only imagine how scary.

Leo didn't SEE it and FEEL it like you did.

I'm sure he was upset about it too, but it's nothing like living through it.

What you went through was scary and awful - no one expects you to be over it so quickly.

I had seizures when I was a baby and my mom still talks about how scary it was.

Give yourself some time. Chat Icon

Re: I keep thinking I am okay with what happened the other night

i don't usually post here, but....seeing this made me want to. my son had the very same thing happen and to me he "died" in my arms while walking into the ER. it took me months to get over what happened and what i witnessed. i know the seizures happened because of a spike in fever and as long as i alternate between tylenol and motrin it won't happen again, HOWEVER, that is the scariest and don't be so hard on yourself, he is your baby!!!!!!!. My pediatrician said he'd outgrown them by the time he reaches puberty.............well damnChat Icon that's a long time to wait. you'll see it will get easier and easier to deal with and you'll know better how to handle it next time, i promise!!!

if you have any questions, since i've been through this before 2x, FM me, i'll be happy to chat with you.

feel better and give him a huge kiss!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

What you are feeling is completely normal. We were nervous wrecks for a long while. I know it gave my DH a lot of peace of mind when we bought the video monitor. It's nice when he makes funny noices to not have to run into his room, we just check the monitor. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I don't blame you for worrying about him. It sounds as if it was a horrible experience for both of you.

But the important thing is, he is fine now, and it most likely will not happen again.

I would imagine what you are feeling is very normal.

To be honest, my kids have never had one, but after reading about them on here I've been freaked out this week since dd has a fever. I haven't slept the past 2 nights, worrying that I won't hear her.
